Hey guys, basically, I signed up to a gym near my work, which no one I know goes to, a few of my friends go to a different gym, which I want to go to as it will give me someone to train with and more inspiration. I'm signed up to a 12 month contract, If i say to my bank I've lost my debit card and get a new one , it will have a new account number and therefore the money wont come out my bank?

Also, i'm 17, so i'm sure I can not be legally obliged to a contract? The reason I'm considering this method is because i'm fairly certain they will refuse me to leave the contract.

Your account number doesn't change only your card number if you get a new card.

I'm not sure about the age thing but what number was it you gave the gym? Was it the large long number on front of card or was it the bottom left hand number on the card?

I gave the account number and the card number :/ I've just canceled the direct debit though through phone banking :P + Rep for the advice though.

Cancelling the debit won't change nothing really, it could make things worse. You signed a contract and contracts (usually) can't be cancelled. You'll probably find that they'll sell your debt on to debt collection agencies and you'll get a knock on your house door asking for your TV and computer etc. (No joke)

i doubt that seeing as i'm under age to legal bind to a contract and I doubt they will send repo men over to collect £31 and 50 pence.
