View Full Version : +10REP SHRINKING POLOS

I've got two Penguin polo shirts that are far too baggy for me, length wise they are fine but the width is all wrong. They are 100% cotton therefore I thought about hot washing them and then sticking them in the dryer for a few minutes on the hottest setting in order to shrink them. I don't want the colors or length to be affected!

Any ideas or tips? +10REP for any.

Instructions:
1. Wash the item of clothing in a washing machine with water at room temperature.
2. Remove the item of clothing from the washing machine.
3. Place the item of clothing in the dryer.
4.Tumble dry the item for 45 minutes. Regardless of the heat selection you choose, the tumbling action will shrink your item of clothing by at least 20 percent in size.
5. Remove the item of clothing from the dryer. If necessary, lay the item flat to allow it to finish drying completely.

I've never tried it before so i'm not sure it will work but its worth a try, hope it works for you :D

What I normally do is stick my Penguin ones in the wash for 2 hours and then move them into the dryer for 50 minutes at the hottest choice, they do shrink length ways but not to much :) but width ways its great

Wash your tops in a washing machine at a temperature you would normally wash them. Put them into the dryer, make sure you change it to the hottest setting, tumble dry for 40-50 minutes. Works for me :)

Or buy ones that actually fit - saves a lot of hassle.

I've tried it but it didn't work. I'm not sure if I tumble dried them long enough.

I'll try it again and tumble dry them long this time round. Cheers.

That's a valid point but I obviously have a reason for asking.

I bought the wrong size ages ago and forgot about them, I recently discovered them lying at the bottom of my drawer and thought I'd give shrinking them a go.
