Under such tragic circumstances as it were, Back To Black has made its way into music charts again. According to a report by The Official Charts Company, sales of Amy’s albums rocketed in the hours after the news that she had died emerged.

With such activity taking place, it was enough to propel her Grammy-winning 2006 release to No. 59 in the album charts and to push the album’s title track Back To Black to No. 81 in the singles chart. Though Adele and boyband The Wanted are still holding on to the top spots on the British charts, on iTunes however Adele’s 21 has been booted out and replaced by Back To Black.

Always makes me wonder who buys these, do they buy it solely on the media? Are there still people out there who haven't heard of Rehab, hear it on the radio and rush out to buy it?

Probably, those who haven't heard of her or who don't understand the hype etc.

i think maybe some people must have not heard it before somehow, then they are like oh she's dead *checks music out* think oh this is actually quite good *buys*

then the other one which is the annoying one (see: michael jackson's death) where people are like OOOOOOOOMG MY HERO IS DEAD :'( :'( :'( (never actually purchased any records of said artist so hastily rushes to download music to seem like a "real fan")

and i suppose it just revives the prominence of the music, like i guess someone could have heard an amy winehouse song on the radio or whatever when it first came out and didn't like it, then she dies and everyone is reminded of her songs after she has been away for a bit and those people could have grown to like it without knowing as the years went by ... if that made any sense :P

i know i've started listening to her again after she passed, just because it reminded me of her, not that i ever forgot but i can't think of another word. i still can't find my back to black cd though, only the case :'(
