I guess this comes under life.

Ok, put simply; Going through school I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, it got to picking the subjects for my final year, and I had no idea what to pick. My family kept moaning at me asking me what I wanted to do/what I like doing, and I just couldn't think of anything, or what I like doing, but I said in the end I like games, so I was going to do a Games Development course at uni.
So, I finished school, and went to uni, struggled through for a few months and in the end decided it wasn't for me, so in February I dropped out. Again I was straight away pressured into doing something else, or I was going to get forced into an apprenticeship I didn't want to do by my parents. So, I applied for a college course doing a sound production course, and went on jobseekers trying to get a part time job until this course starts.
Fast forward a few months till now, and I'm still on jobseekers, I can't get a job because I don't have any experience, and even though I got accepted for this college course, it hit me a few weeks ago, I don't actually want to do it, I only applied for it because I was forced to.
My problem is, I hate being on jobseekers, but I don't want to waste another year doing a course I don't want to do. I still have no clue what I want to do with my life either, but I don't want to be forced into a trade I don't want to do. So yeah, I just want to know if anyones been in a similar situation, and what helped them to decide what they want to do. That's the main thing I need help with really :/

Well I would say, you should just try and see what your best at, like what your best ability is etc and then try a course at college? I no about this because one of my older friends was suffering the same problem.

Take a course at uni which is general and wont restrict what jobs you can perform, business, law, marketing, all these are decent qualifications which are general and will benefit you when applying for many varied jobs.

Awwww, I'm sorry to hear you're in that position! As those above have said, you really need to go for something you enjoy doing or else you simply won't perform to the best of your ability. Take a look at the subjects that you enjoyed at school and then take a look at the course content at university; then stem from there and look at job prospects. It's going to be a long process but you need to do it right, away from the pressure of family - after all, it's your life so it's all ultimately your decision.

Best of luck! :) xo

My cousin was in this situation,
And all I could say to her was
Do what she thinks is right.
Good luck!

That sounds very similar to what my sister went through, I would suggest you do some sort of quick certification (Like a 3 month or less program) because that will open up more jobs for you, without you having committed as much time and energy as you would have to college. Then you could just work until you figure out what you want to do, which I think makes sense because then when you know what you want to do you will have the money for it. Even without the certification, maybe go to local stores and hand out your resume I find they normally respond better in person. Ultimately though it is up to you, and if you are doing something you don't love it's probably going to be tough, best of luck though and Chloee was right, you just have to do what you think is right.
