Proboard's? Never!.

Ok, Over The Past Few Week's I Have Noticed, An Increasing Number Of Habbox Forum Member's Have Been Using "ProBoard's" :o . Which On A Scale Of 1 - 10 Is -10 (My Rating). So My Advice To You Is To NOT, Use A ProBoard's Board. 99.9% It Will Let Your Website Down. Below Are A Few Forum Type's I Would Recommend:

VBulletin - 8/10

PhpBB (Fully Modded) - 8/10

Invision Power Board - 10/10

VBulletin's Website: www.VBulletin.com (http://www.vbulletin.com/)

PhpBB's Website: www.PhpBB.com (http://www.phpbb.com/)

PhpBB Fully Modded's Website: www.PhpBBFM.net (http://support.phpbbfm.net/index_fm.php)

Invision Power Board: www.InvisionBoard.com (http://www.invisionboard.com/)

Also Below I Have Provided A List Of Free Forum Host's You Can Choose From, To Host Your Website Forum. Although There Is Normally A Banner, Text Etc, Relating Back To The Forum Hosting Company, As The Forum Is Free. :p

VBulletin: Sorry I Have Not Managed To Find A (Free) Host For VBulletin.

PhpBB: www.PhpBBForFree.com (http://www.phpbbforfree.com/)

Invision Power Board: www.IPBFree.com (http://www.ipbfree.com/index1.php?)

Thank You, And I Hope You Will Take My Advice. ;)

Note: I Am Are Recommending The Free Forum Host's, Although That Does NOT Mean I Or Habbox Is Responsible For The Use Of Them.

Edit: I'm Very Sorry If This Forum Is Not In The Correct Section.

Yep, I also have noticed that, why people choose proboards, I will never know

Anyway my favourite forum type is PHPBB Fully Modded, it has the lottery and everything! Although it uses up bandwidth faster than a bullet! :p

lol, to rate a vb above ipb you would have to have never even seen an ipb in actaion before, but a phpbb fully modded? lmao, do u even know what an ipb is ?? come ipb blows both out of the water and has more mods avible for it than phpbb to macth "/

possiblay mentioned invisionfree as athogh its got a lot removed it is easyer to use for newbies where a full inviosnpower board can be a little overwhelming, but thats not a major point. good list. maybe mention smf or mybbullten board and a few other smaller ones also "/

ps.as a warning u cant edit after 15 minutes wich ruins, how this would work sorry :(

I would of rated phpbb a 6 or 7, not to offend vB even if I do deteste them.

10/10 deffinately for a ipb, generally because 2.0 is 10x better than a current vB and has better services.

You can get some good mod's for phpbb like admin level so they can only have so much control in the admincp etc and they are easy to edit and design. But IPB all the way :)

That comes normally in an SMF. I shall list the different accesses below:

Forum administration
Administrate forum and database
Manage boards and categories
Manage attachments and avatars
Manage smileys
Edit news

Member administration
Moderate forum members
Manage and assign membergroups
Manage permissions
Manage ban list
Send a forum email to members

smf is a pretty powerful board, its just in its early stages still, its not even on its first proper relice version yet, aka still in beta, as its so new its picked up on all the most wanted fetures and used em :D. athogh many things are far from compleat and a bit dodgy, like the currant skin system wich has major issuses "/

I agree, you can change them, but I am not sure how. There is a good version of one on the Zelda Forums where I found SMF first.

there skins need direct editing of certain php bits rather than parsed tag useage used in advanced skining systems like ipb users etc "/

GommeInc

I found where to do so, but I have lost it. You don't edit 1 skin, you edit each types like Admin CP, Index, Calender etc. It is a good idea but time consuming.

its easier when forums have html templates of the forum you can edit because then you can mess around with how its set out not just colours.

wow - I actually agree with you. You dont get that much control of the HTML things with IPB, but you get more than almost every other forum. Another reason why IPB 2.0.4 and vBulletin 3.5 aren't in the same league

Im guessing from that you have only ever used IF wich removed most of the html templates and skin editing tools, as ipb 1.x has tones of stuff to do with skin giveing you compleat control on how stuff looks "/

Wow, that statement is completely wrong! You get full control of the HTML templates in each skin. Not only that but you can easily change the language files from your AdminCP.

IPB blows vB out of the water. :)
