Been coughing pretty violently for a week now with runny/stuffed nose. It isn't sore when I cough at all more of just a violent cough. Any ideas on what it could be?

It could be anything, your best bet would be to just see a doctor and see what they say.

I've booked an appointment but it isn't for another 8 days. I'd like someone with any experience to give me a brief diagnosis so I can go and buy some medicine. It's more of an annoying cough than painful.

It can be a lot of stuff. If it is just a cough and a blocked/runny nose, then it's just a normal cold. But if your feeling sick, got a temp, it would be the flew. If your throwing up ect, it would be a virus.

Weirdly enough I have this, Jen has been useless though. If she comes in here saying use lemon/honey, disregard it!

Also, is your cough worse when you wake up/about to go to sleep?

I also have this bad cough with lots of phlegm and snot, it's getting better now but coughing badly before bed it's a cough that if I didn't cough would just tickle my throat and annoy the **** out of me until i cough.

Yes! When I go to sleep or lie down I start coughing more.

I've had exactly this since I got back from Kavos - clearing up now though.

I had the same problem for months. I had a dry cough and it was worse when I tried to go sleep and sometimes I couldn't sleep for hours. I tried a lot of cough medicine but nothing was working someone told me to try honey becuse it soothes your throat and stops the dry cough. It worked for me. I went to see my doctor and he said it was asthma. I have an inhaler now and it helps a lot!

Not Hayfever lol. Being sick whatever it is, always gets worse in the morning and night. Laying down and coughing more is natural. Because when your laying down, you have stuff pushing against your lungs more.

My friend has this as well her doctor told her it was a chest infection but go to a doctor to see what is up with you.

I have problems like that too but not really violent cough, imo.
If I were you, I would see the doctor for some opinions.
