Hey. Im 18 years old and my main goal in life is to serve in the Police Force.

The Police like to look for people with a great deal of life experience for them to recruit hopefulls. I applied for the Special Constabulary in my force and made it up to the interview stages, but failed it due to confidence and lack of knowledge/experience.

I need a list of organizations of some sort where I can advance myself into gaining better life experience, i.e. The British Red Cross. Places where I will go to help out in situations where help is needed - as a volunteer.

Could anyone recommend any organisations or give any tips and/or advise?

Much appreciated, thanks.

Go backpacking/travelling would be one of my suggestions and if you really want to stand out, go volunteer and help out in Africa/India for a few months. I've not done these things myself so I can't give you specific details but it would look nothing short of fantastic on your CV, you'll develop many life skills in doing this. Just type in keywords relating to these things on Google and you'll find charities/companies involved with this.

Working with people is sure to help as well, it's further lifeskills. This could be just waitering or working in a shop but it'll add something. Then there's helping out at charities, consider doing work experiences in the public sector and maybe complete something like the London Marathon whilst raising money for charity at the same time?
