If you can, do you think it would be ideal to remove the option to +/- rep someone for a closed thread?
Seeing as the thread has been closed, I don't see why people should be able to +/- rep someone in that thread as the thread got closed for a reason, it may even lower the reported reputations

nope not at all, just cause a thread is closed doesn't mean you shouldn't be allowed to + or - a post that you feel deserves it:P even though it's closed, maybe there's a post there that you want to +rep but you weren't able to because you weren't online at the time. you should be free to rep a post if you like ie in elites even though they were maybe posted years ago, a post still may be worthy of a +rep

Why on earth would it be ideal to not allow people to rep others in closed threads? Sorry, but in general this doesn't make sense to me.
Sorry!
But I like negatively reppin' MattG when he hires bad staff?
Bad idea. If someone's stupid enough to make a stupid post, they deserve the negative rep.

Just because the thread is closed, it doesn't mean that the post isn't still worthy of a +/- rep.

Or alternatively, perhaps looking at it in a slightly nicer way, closed threads can still have good posts which deserve positive rep. ;) :P But yes I agree, I think it'd be a pointless and annoying addition.

I don't think it would be fair if someone made a good post and deserved reputation that because say someone ended up arguing and getting the thread closed then that person who made the good post worthy of +rep didn't get it. I don't think there's any major problems with allowing this tbh!

This would be awful if this was implemented. A thread being closed does not mean all posts are the cause and therefore pointless. Someone may have made useful contributions. Besides, many threads seem closed because two people were having a tiff, when the main discussions were alive and healthy. So no, I would not like this added - the current system is fine and flawless :)

Doesn't matter if they are pointless :P I will often -rep a post if it is obviously pointless, especially if someone asked a genuine question :L

Maybe make it so that the posts that the thread was closed because of were unable to gain reputation but the others can?
Just a idea

That would be impossible as far as I am aware. People can -rep others for rule breaking. So not allowing rule breakers to be -repped in a closed thread is sort of rewarding them? :S
Case in point: I just -repped someone who created a thread about WWE (that was closed)

I personally think reputation should not be restricted. If a person has said some stupid things, then obviously his reputation isn't very good and you may alter it. As long as the rep doesn't break the forum rules, then it is fine and should be left. I think disabling the rep system in closed threads is unnecessary and is tackling a non-problem. If people who caused the thread to be closed are unliked (or ruined the thread for others, made silly posts and been rude etc.), then you should be able to alter their reputation. If many members in the thread made useful and interesting points, then you may alter the reputation. Making the rep system complicated for the sake of complicated ruins the system. It doesn't need touching again.

Maybe only allow them to get negative rep?

This is a really poor feedback thread, just because the thread was closed doesn't mean it was closed because people in the thread were being e-rebels it could have been bumped, it could of been closed because the admins don't want anyone posting in it, e.g stickied threads for rules etc...
Never the less anythings possible, they could make it so it only allows negative reputation but really whats the point.

That's what I was thinking, it could be an argument kicked off between two individuals, whilist others are constructively contributing... Im giving this one a no, sorry :(
