So I've been designing for a few years now, I used to be under another name on this forum a few years ago (but for the life in me I can't remember what it was!)

I remember that this forum was brilliant for the technology & design aspect of the web so I'm back.

My design company is Headingley Design, based in Leeds (UK).

I'm more accustom to designing rather than the coding side of things, but I've managed to create a simple enough website to showcase some of my work and provide means of contact.

More pages are to come, I'd just like feedback on the general design.

Thanks I appreciate your help.

Good luck with your business, there's definitely a few little things I would question in terms of the site but the whole brand seems well set-up.

I know you're not much of a coder, but I think relying on images for just about everything is going to set you back a bit in the long run. For example, the paragraph text is an image, the header with rounded corners is an image... and if you switched to a little bit of code you would shave off a huge chunk of loading times and file size.

That's my main bugbear really, it's headed in the right direction but it would be good to optimise it a little bit by chucking some image use out the window. I'm not a big fan of that particular wood texture- but it feels matched with the font which makes up for it nicely.

I'd just say it's a little bare at the moment really, your CSS isn't quite up to the job but you're making a really good start and I'm not about to put you down for any of this. Take some of these suggestions, see how you feel and let me know if you want me to help out or clarify something.

Good luck again, I hope you get some success out of it :) Leave your Twitter if you have one!

Brilliant, thank you.

As silly as it sounds that's the exact sort of feedback I was looking for. Advice from someone who knows more about coding.

I'll look into changing them, when I update the website with more pages.

Thanks again.

The wood texture doesn't really tile well and you have a lot of negative space where it really doesn't fit (Generally near text, above and below email, either side of "Current Projects")

I appreciate the feedback, but I cant see what you are describing.

I think that you may be mistaking it for just a wooden texture, it's supposed to look slightly like wooden floorboards going horizontally across the page.

Thanks again.

Some of the design aspect is badly worked. Such as this "flooring" it looks wrong, either its the wrong texture or simply doesn't work.

As with the top bar, what is it? It looks weird. So does your font, stick to professional fonts, it'll look loads better. And your logo has too much shadow on, i would decrease it by least 50%. ..

I do agree with some of your points. Tthe top bar is for the links (they have been updated), and on the other side social buttons. The background in my opinion does work, although I do appreciate the feedback.
