Ok so for university I need to put together a portfolio and I have a few good ideas, but the cameras at school are poor, and it's about time I got one of my own if I want to take this seriously, so basically does anyone know a good decent camera I can get for around £400?
I don't want one just so i can take black and white pictures and be 'hipster', I want one primarily for filming, but i might need some stills as well, and I don't mind buying second hand either, thanks for any help.
P.S don't ask me questions about things like specs because I am clueless with any and all technology!

The Canon Powershot series is supposed to have great optics and take really good 1080p footage and still images for the price (~£150).

Our family use an Olympus uTough 8010 camera, but there are probably newer ones out now but it does great 720p video and takes nice stills (+ can go underwater and is drop, shock, crush etc proof).

If you want to get a bit more professional, then the Nikon D3100 DSLR does 1080p video and stills, has interchangable lenses etc etc and is just in your budget.

Wasn't expecting a reply that fast!
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll take a look at them all and speak to my funds manager (mum)
