How do i do this..? noob question!

I am trying to make the 'stone' area were the information will be in the middle of the webpage and then the 'dirt' background to cover the whole the the webpage so there's no white parts.

I am a total noob, i have never done CSS nor HTML, i'm basically just trying to get that site to work :P I wouldn't really need to edit it just the content box's with text, even then that would be rare.
