How much monthly traffic would i need for a basic forum?

Also would 3GB web space and 100GB traffic (monthly) be enough for a forum just opening?

More than enough. You could easily start out on a 1GB space with 5-10GB bandwidth allowance, although even then you won't use that much.

500mb space and 500mb traffic for the first few months would be plenty if not busy. You can always move to a larger package.

the smallest package i could find was 1GB space and 3GB traffic so i got that, only £1.99/month.
