Now I have started my apprentiship (Woo) I leave early, and arrive home late (Public Transport<3)

Anyhow, when I get home, I just really cannot be bothered to turn on my PC, yet I still want web access.

So, I began thinking about a netbook, but decided this is just like my pc which is probably 40cm's from my bed on a 32" screen, and instead it will be a netbook on a 10" screen, on my lap, so I decided this wasn't the way forward.

Then I thought of Tablets, and decided this would be the best way, and I have now fallen in love with the iPad 2, but I have a couple of questions, mainly, when is the iPad 3 going to be out? I don't want to waste my hard earned money, only for the iPad 3 to come out a few months later.

I was looking at getting the following:

iPad 2 - White - 16GB - Wifi Only - £399.99

Incase Origami Workstation - £19.95
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/H6353ZM/A?fnode=MjA1MTEyODY

Apple Wireless Keyboard - £57.00
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC184B/B?mco=MjMzOTczNjc

iTunes £20 Card.

Total: Around £500! :(

This would be my ideal workstation, I can take my iPad out with me to work, etc, and when I get home just attach it to the workstation downstairs, and just chill.

Anywhere I can save money, etc?

Oh, and before someone says the Dell Streak, or Samsung Galaxy Tab or something, I looked into them, but I have my android phone, and well, I want something different.

Thoughts?

The iPad 3 was said to be coming out before Christmas but since then the rumours have 'changed' and it's now expected sometime early next year.

As for saving money, I think that you'd be able to get a keyboard, maybe even from eBay, that will be much cheaper, rather than paying £70.

As for the iPad itself, I certainly reccomend it :P. I have one and find it very useful, particular with the app store as well.

Could you help me look for a keyboard? :P

So, it it worth waiting for the iPad 3 if its early next year? I could save up, and with it being my birthday just after Christmas, I could probably have £700, but then again, if the Ipad 2 goes down in the sales....

Gah, I don't know.

To be honest, I don't know where to get them lol. I'm just assuming there'll be other options :). You can always probably get second hand ones on eBay though, and maybe been a new one.

As for waiting, it depends how soon you want/need it and whether you're happy with what the iPad 2 already has to offer. As for it going down in the sales, I doubt it will although I suppose maybe in a few places it could but definitely not by much.

I want the offical apple bluetooth keyboard :P I'll look on eBay

Well, I do actually really want the iPad, I was planning on going into the Apple shop near work (Highcross Leicester ftw!) in my lubch and look at one/buy one, I know they try and sit you down and talk about it and crap, but do you think they would be able to sell it me and everything in 20mins? My lunch is only 45 mins, and well, its about a 10min walk from work into town.

Ah well, I'll try soon, I need to earn my wages first :P

I think you're better off looking on eBay then :D. I'm not sure how long it'd take to buy one, I suppose it depends if there's queues or not? I've never bought anything directly from an apple store, only online, so I don't know :P.

There's never queues, not in this Apple shop, they have like, a really long shop, with like, a large table you sit at with other people and some will individually go through your product with you etc, But yeah, I just want to get in, buy what I want and run :P Can they do the personalisation order in-store? (Place the order then go and get it in a couple of days?)

Do you mean the engraving? That can only be done online.

I bought my iPad 2 from the Apple Store at the Florida Mall whilst on holiday last month. We were in and out of the store within five minutes - ask, pay, activate, done within seconds. I highly doubt you'd get the same service in this country though!

Yeah, I really recommend getting one. It's much easier than powering up my laptop each morning to check emails and it's much more practical to browse the Internet on a night using it. I'm astounded by the quality of the graphics (I've never owned an Apple product before!) and the apps seem pretty decent so far too. Obviously, it will be a lot better when iOS 5 is released and a jailbreak comes out..! :P
