Just got an email from Facebook:

We're trying out a new feature to reduce the amount of email you receive from Facebook. Starting today, we are turning off most individual email notifications and instead, we'll send you a summary only if there are popular stories you may have missed.

You can turn individual emails back on (http://www.facebook.com/n/?settings&tab=notifications&tip=frequency&mid=4e34060G1eca9d65G0Gfe&bcode=eck4kDVI&n_m=peter_t_2k3%40hotmail.com) and restore all your original settings at any time.

Thanks,
The Facebook team

This sounds decent. I'll probably definitely turn the notifications back on as I use Facebook a lot, especially for my radio. However I like that their giving us a choice.

Do you think its a good idea and will you be using it?

thought this might be coming, there's been an option when deactivating yr account for a while now titled 'facebook sends me too many emails' so maybe they're listening to user input?

My emails are always open so it's not really a problem... I'll keep them! :P

Yeah got this email like 1-2 weeks ago? They failed by sending me that email to be honest! Just kidding. I guess it's nice to have the option there? But I have my emails open near enough all the time when I'm on the computer and I also get my emails through my phone, so doesn't really matter that much to me.

Doesn't really matter to me, I have text notifications turned on and an app that checks every 10 mins on my phone.
