Does HabboxForum need an App?
We also have forum runner, they work well!

I use forum runner on my mobile.. works well
Should we have our own dedicated app.
i said yes because i hate the other apps available that we use for it. and obviously, mobile skin doesn't work on iphone at the moment.

Should we have our own dedicated app.
The only way I would find a our own app reasonable is if it was free, otherwise, I disagree.

I think this should be made, and it could be an added bonus to whoever has donator, would be a lovely extra feature.

I already use forum runner, but if we had our own one I would use it. That is if it is available for android.
It wouldn't be an exclusive thing it would be all or nothing.

Yesssssssssss! We have a HabboxLive app, so why not a forum one? :D

It wouldn't be an exclusive thing it would be all or nothing.
Does that mean it would be cross-platform? So: iOS, Android, Windows Phone 7 and maybe BlackBerry or will it be limited to only two/three.

@Jin are you suggesting the mobile suite from vBulletin?

Depends how long it will take to create. Personally I think time and effort should be put into other parts of the sites rather than create an App which isn't a necessity at this point in time.

It would take us sometime and realistically I don't see it being released till 2012 but it would be a separate development by me as oppose to david.
If it works on blackberry - yes, because internet is fairly annoying on blackberries
but from what I've seen, hxf works perfectly fine on iphones and androids, so not really a point
Blackberry app with notifications on replies to created threads and private messages. Definitely. iPhone app? nope.

Don't see the need for it with Tapatalk and Forum Runner.

No, mainly because if people browsed my app I do not want them to see an app called "Habbox Forum".

no i'd rather you sorted out the mobile skin instead it takes yonks on my blackberry plus its so slow on my ipod now too.
i think we're going a bit app crazy now we have a mobile skin so leave it at that
there are already other apps so no point. no need for more than one app that do the same thing

With all due respect, I would far rather have a forum that is actually online.
(EG. 22 hours 50 minutes downtime in 14 days..)
Two separate issues.
Also don't rely on pingdom our firewall blocks it connections every now and again because they keep opening too many connections and secondly we block pings on our server. You can test this by issuing "ping Habbox.com" in command prompt you will find that it will return a timeout.
According to Nagios we have had 97.2% uptime in the last 7 days.

I thought the pingdom uptime counter was a bit fishy. I know the server is down often, but not THAT often/
Stephen

ennit I was wondering why it was having like 2 minutes downtime every 10 minutes or whatever

So does that count for people who use the mobile skin or use something like Tapatalk/Board Express or Forum Runner to access the forum on their phone then? If there was an actual app and it was better than any other alternative than sure I would download it.

The difference is, Tapatalk displays as Tapatalk, not "HabboxForum" - if it was better than tapatalk, sure I would download it. But a lot of people wouldn't.
Wow didn't think closet HxF users existed. What is it a guilty pleasure?
Okay well if there isn't a 75% favour for it then it won't happen so the decision lies with the community *dramatic music*

Habboxforum is a guilty pleasure.
I would find it hard explaining to friends/work mates (who often see my phone apart from the passlocked bits...) what habboxforum was, why i don't use the game it's dedicated to BUT still use the dedicated forum?
I'd like an app. and it has to be subtle.
I don't use any forum running apps because it's good on my browser (htc sensation/htc chacha).
i would download an app, but yeah it would have to be subtle rly. maybe ust called "hxf"?

Evidently you barely ever see the actual forum then. Been threads about that sort of thing ever since I have joined. And I am sure there will be more.

Evidently you did.
I don't think it is because of the use of a forum - I think it is the links to the chat room/virtual world that people don't talk about. People who have don't or never have played the game and used a forum normally wouldn't understand how you can stop playing the game, but still use a forum related to it.

Sorry, this is a flipping habbo forum, why are we trying to be the next "big thing".. ? Why waste time and effort on something when the mobile skin can do the job, as with previous app's already do the job perfectly fine. Seems really pointless to me, but heyho this is habboxforum after all.

Replied via the perfectly decent Tapatalk forum app.

Yeah I think that would be a better alternative because I don't think people will look at your phone find 'HxF' and go on acronymsolver to find out what it meant (as it is on there).
I still don't think it need's an app, however, I don't have an android/iPhone etc I just use a good old DSi.

To me, an App just seems like a pointless waste of time/resources. The mobile site works just perfectly, and if people really are that insecure about having Habbox on their phone (which is stupid) they don't need to worry what all their friends think about them.

Perhaps they could just fix the mobile skin? If they have one and all it needs is repairs then it seems less time consuming than creating an entirely new project aimed at making an App for the site.

I am in two minds about an App, my first opinion is that the mobile skin is fine and if it is not then TapaTalk or an equivalent will be.
However, if it was a Habbox App rather than just a HabboxForum app it may be worth it, you could combine the current HxL app into a Habbox App with the Radio, News, the Forum and perhaps even mini-rare values. This could be worth considering, however without significant interest I seriously wouldn't bother.

think you should really concentrate on fixing the mobile skin as its currently not even possible to use the forum on my phone.

The forum takes for ages to load on my BlackBerry. I think you personally should concentrate on making the mobile skin better and then potentially creating an application for BlackBerry - I'm sure the TapaTalk application and other ones on the iPod / iPhone is good enough for the time being. I think you should go for it once you have concentrated on making the current things, (like the mobile skin), to their full potential. :)

The mobile skin works fine on Android. I had a playa round with it the other day :P Save yourself the money and hassle, and just fix up the mobile skin.

The only thing i do on the iPhone is listening to Habboxlive through the app at night while trying to fall asleep to the beautiful music the DJ plays and not to mention... the annoying DJ that you wish would just hurry up and play your request ahahaha :P I love it!
Omg but there are some really awesome DJs it's amazing.

This is one of those things, which, to a forum user seems terrible and wasteful, but to a dedicated habbo player who uses habbox for articles, radio and RVs this is essentially gold, pure gold and is so very valuable.

I believe you could get tapatalk which is ultimately the best choice.
It costs like £2. LMAO so stingy but i'm not giving that. It should work without it.

I simply haven't used the forum on my mobile since the mobile skin was updated.

The new mobile forum skin is so annoying for me. The new one now classes the DSi as a mobile device and will not load on my actual DSi I don't think I can download any apps on it although there are space for it, would that work at all do you think? I know it's a bit off topic :P!
