Recently there has been rumours going around about habbo.com merging with other hotels, theres even a poll in the lab asking what languages you speak.Today a new badge got updated with the code COM59, showing that its for the .com hotel. The badge is in mexican, and so is the advertisement which was also uploaded for habbo.comhttp://images.habbo.com/c_images/album1584/COM59.gifhttp://images.habbo.com/images/302/Ad6830382St1Sz1831Sq101181167V2Id1.gif

In my opinion, I don't think we should merge with them because things will be confusing with different languages.
Oh that would be awful, rooms would be over populated with people that cannot speak English and it will cause quite a bit of trouble. Really hope it doesn't happen haha. :P
I can't see it happening myself, Sulake made a profit last year so I doubt they'd purposely merge different speaking hotels together. However there has been some crazy decisions made in the last 6 months so who knows!

I remember I went on Habbo.es once and there was 28,000 users online :L . Adding that to .com at it's peak would be about 42,000 users which is ridiculously large.
We already have enough Spanish people on the hotel, seriously... I go to rooms and I see someone speaking Spanish/Portugese and I wonder why they're not on .es :S
If they do merge, the language barrier would be very hard to 'get around'. Stupid idea in my opinion.
If this does go ahead... They'll probably merge all hotels in the future x_X.

15110 users online when i just checked + 6422 for .com so would make it way above the 20000 mark! :S

As you say it would be hard to communicate unless habbo had a language translator to translate into a set language for you. Also it would over populate it. If this did happen would habbo become even laggier?

Urgh. Wish it was like '09 again... I went on .co.uk at 6am (Ok, don't judge me -.-) and only 73 users on.
95% of the people online these days are children who are looking to a) give out msn's or b) be an e-baby.

es do get very large numbers^
I don't see this happening to be honest, it would seem very stupid to do so, 20 thousand odd spanish on an english speaking hotel :s Don't think it would be any laggier than Habbo is already..

I'm sure you can buy coins on habbo.com if your from .es swell.

It'd be incredibly hard to create a translator... Internet Text + Translator = No No. So I don't think they would xL

They were making a profit when the English speakers merged so...

In fact, when Habbo merged they made £11 million less compared to the previous year;
2008 - £42 million revenue.
2009 - £41 million revenue.
2010 - £30 million revenue. (Year of merge)
I suppose the economic crisis had some effect on it though. Not just the merge :P

If it merges, I think it will do more worse than good.

Well they probably had a lot of redundancies to pay so...

I'm a way snobbier vet than you are, back in the '02 days people actually visited public rooms and skylight lobby was THE place to be.

You know, I would have found 2001-2006 kinda boring :L . A decent amount of users is better. But like people in this thread have suggested... about 30,000 users online is just stupid.
But I agree with the public rooms ^ They were pretty awesome :P (Floating Garden = best in my opinion)
we get spanish speaking users coming into the help desk all the time, and it's so frustrating because they don't speak a word of english and we just can't help them. would segregate the users even more.

I don't really think this would happen:S:S if it did it would be stupid, everyone would get annoyed and it would be so confusing.

By the way, if it happened there would be a way to separate the languages.
In my opinion, I don't think we should merge with them because things will be confusing with different languages.
But Luke! IT WILL SAVE HABBO MONEY!!! So they'll defo do it ;)

Simply, it just wouldn't work due to the language barrier. Tbh it would be cool for people who can speak Spanish (A) but everyone else would find it hard.
If this is true, this is terrible.

They could merge the homepages together then have two buttons saying like
Play ES Here
Play EN Here
or something. Maybe they might make a hub..

I did ask staff before about this, they said " No, we keep all speaking English hotels and others seperate ".
I always thought as it was .COM it'd have all hotels merged.. hope this isn't true.
God I would hate to see a foreign language around the hotel.
Habbo HOTEL
It'd be way 2 packed and with people speaking languages we dont even know is just horrid thinking about it
ON TOPIC: omg what a dreadful choice, I hope this dont happen

I don't think this is happening you know guys. The campaign is for something called Expo 15. I've googled it and it seems to be quite a big event, and I think it's going to involve something about creating a party room or something similar as the description of the badge is: The ideal event to prepare your party for 15 years.
http://www.espacio15.com/ It's more girly i think does anyone know anything more? A fashion show? I think its an event when you turn 15 for girls actually http://www.habbo.es/articles/4403-expo-abre-sus-puertas-tambien-en-habbo

Just can't see it. It's would ruin .es's individuality as one of very few spanish-speaking online games.

I was at the research lab chat talking with Yurre (the research lab owner who makes the polls) and someone asked about this because of the rumours flying around and because the latest poll is in different languages. She said that they are not merging and she's sorry if we got ideas that they were because of the poll.

Habbo could also do one website but different servers, and for these Spanish people that visit our hotel they can speak English but they choose not to. Most schools in Spain teach English right up till you leave school.
Velma.

There's already other people in Habbo speaking other languages other than English.
So whats the point of making it like that? If people wanna join english speaking hotel
let them, why do we HAVE to merge with them, if there's already an bunch of them
already here?
Gosh Habbo, you're so complicated.

Wait... Yurre is a woman? LOL I did not know that... Always assumed it was a man o.o
And, Definitely glad we're not merging :)

This would be a absolute stupid thing to do, merging languages will just make habbo very confusing, it will also put many people off habbo, and new members...well if your new last thing you wanted is been told how to do things in another language...

If they do do it, they should at least make it so you can change your language settings and it'd automatically translate everything into the language you've chosen.
Plebings
28-09-2011, 07:33 PM
if it did, they'd just seperate the rooms into 2 sections, one for english and one for spanish, sure you'd see some going into english speaking rooms FOR DA LOLZ, but you see that already with many other nationalities on the hotel.
anyway, Yurre said that the poll was removed because it led to speculation about the merge, so either they don't want to let the cat out of the bag yet or it was just a coincidence.

Translating languages or blocking out unrecognised languages would be the ONLY way for this to work, but as your example showed it still wouldn't help in a lot of cases (incwuding hwabbo bwabies)

OK Guys Yurre (Technical Habbo Staff and Owner of the Research Lab) has confirmed this won't happen and she has put down the poll when someone told her people are thinking the hotels will merge :P
