anyone do an art based or fashion course at uni? which uni is it & would you recommend it?


i have shortlisted some uni's i'm interested in:

coventry uni
de montfort uni
anglia ruskin uni
hertfordshire uni
nottingham trent uni
birmingham city uni
leeds uni

anyone know anything about these unis? good/bad? cheap/expensive? anything you've found out yourself please post :) +rep

Only one from that list I can comment on is DMU, my brother's there at the moment (not doing art/fashion but looked into it for me) and he says the facilities are amazing for it and all this but he seemed to indicate that they're more geared towards graphic art and game design type things. Also if you're from Derby you might not get on with the locals :P

have also heard good thing about DMU, i have a friend there doing a design orientated course. but i can't remember what.

birmingham city uni, my sister goes there and she loves it. it's not a very campus-y uni though, you don't really get the kind of uni experience you would get from an outer-city university. the accommodation is nowhere near the uni, and the nightlife isn't very student orientated. it's just like a night out in birmingham ha. the price of living in birmingham though is pretty cheap and as second city, we've got some good facilities here.

i think the BCU art facilities are with the acting facilities that i got an offer from at millenium point in birmingham city centre, if so: it's an amazing environment to learn in as it's part of a museum and an IMAX (www.thinktank.org.uk i think) and it's generally a really creative hub.

so DMU is very graphic based & BCU has good facilities but everything else is rubbish
