Basically someone put water on top of the block that is the sky limit block thing.

I can't do anything about it that I know of so.....

Can't you just use dirt blocks to get to the right height and then use an empty bucket to collect the water?

Get to the top (level with top of water), using a bucket right click the top of water. It should all disappear then.
Not played MC in ages, so not sure if it still works!

What everyone else has said, enable flying on the server, fly up there and bucket it.

I totally forgot about the server! I'll have to come online

Fixed for you Aled, just went to the top, got a bucket, scooped up the middle bit, and wala:

Ok so after I ninja'd my way out of the spawn, I traversed the country side. I then fell down a ravene and am stuck here until I get build rights haha. <3

But alas! I used the server lagg to my advantage and ascended from the depths. After traveling through a desert, I emerged on the other side to see it pouring with rain. Currently I am huddled in an small natural opening keeping dry til it passes.

Peering out of my hidey hole, I see the rain has stopped. Off I go again, in to the unknown. I have crossed what seemed to be an endless ocean of sadness as the rain has started again. Why me? I'm now in a very mountainous region, very steep hills that make the terrain extremely hard to traverse. But I conquer the mountain. Peering over the ridge I can see a man made wall! Civilization at last!! The wall runs off and disappears in to the horizon...maybe not. Scaling the wall is no problem, but what is that!!!http://i.imgur.com/793kD.jpg A strange Volcano?! Too scary for me, I'm outta here! I glance up the nearby lake to see boats!! People? Maybe? No. On I trudge. Alone.

Finally! In the distance I can see houses, street lamps, docks. I wander through the streets of this quaint sea side village, shouting out for someone...anyone. One of the signs says "Welcome to Port Falador" I assume it has been abandoned for a while now. Going through the vacant houses, it appears whoever lived here left in no hurry, making sure everything was in it's place and not leaving any belongings behind. I wander out of the port in to a "heights" of some sort, the name escapes me now. Walking through yet more abandoned streets, I come to the realization that maybe I am being punished. But for what? Why am I so alone. I turn a corner to see familiar landmarks. It can't be! There in front of me, looming high above the ground, is the walls of the server spawn point. Impossible! I left in one direction and arrived in another. Or was it infact that in my hungry, weary adventure, I became turned around. I'll never know.
