Two men originally from Iran - one a naturalised US citizen - have been charged with counts of conspiracy, Attorney General Eric Holder said.

The plot was "conceived" in Iran by the Quds force, part of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps, he added.

The state department has listed Iran as a "state sponsor" of terror since 1984.

Mr Holder described the $1.5m assassination plot as being "conceived, sponsored and directed by Iran", and said Tehran would be held accountable for its alleged involvement.

Top Iranian officials were responsible for the plans, Mr Holder said, adding that the White House would be announcing steps against Iran in the next few hours.

Like the U.S. and Mossad do to their own enemies? Iran has had various scientists executed by Mossad/CIA over the past year on its own soil. (http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,777899,00.html) Infact, only last month did President Obama give the order to assassainate known-terrorist Al Awlaki which is against the U.S. consitution (http://www.thestatecolumn.com/articles/ron-paul-revisits-al-awlakis-death-government-sanctioned-assassination/), even as a U.S. citizen he deserves a trial as does anybody else.

I must add though concerning Iran, Iran only acts like this because we make it so - in 1953 we overthrew, through the CIA, their democratically elected government and replaced it with the Shahist regime, backed by us (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1953_Iranian_coup_d%27%C3%A9tat). In 1979 the blowback arrived and they turned to the hardcore because they knew that the likes of the Ayatollah would not bend over backwards for the United States - it's as simple as that and i'm quite frankly sick of this warmongering we get telling us they act like this because 'we are free'.

Even as Iran's domestic policy is opposite to almost everything I believe in, she has a right to defend herself.
