Letterman jackets. This isn't the '80s or '90s and I presume you're not American, so don't get one.

They're sports jackets for American high schools and colleges. English folks wearing them look like idiots. They're not for fashion, it's almost a form of identity in the US. Well, it was in the '80s and '90s, not so much now. They don't translate across the pond, and that's why they look stupid.

I don't reckon 'English folks' wearing them look like idiots, I actually reckon they're pretty smart and they go very well with chinos which are very much the fashion these days. One of my best mates wears a couple of them with jeans, chinos and just about anything else and he is capable of pulling off a good look. I'm more fond of the plain version, e.g:

It's not about fashion, it's a cultural thing.

How can you go from saying people wear them like idiots (which is fashion) then say it's not about fashion? :S
I like them to be honest, although I'm not planning on buying one any time soon.

I had a friend who had one, wore it to sixth form one day, everyone ripped him to shreds, never saw it again..
Moral of the story - Don't buy one
