View Full Version : Mobile Skin?

Hey,

I think it's highly unfair my phone seems to force onto the Mobile Skin when my default settings for the browser are desktop not mobile websites?

Why is it habboxforum forces onto the mobile skin which no offense is cumbersome and annoying to use compared to the nice skins we have.

both my phones, including my primary phone (http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_sensation_xe-4164.php) are more than capable at handling desktop browsing so why is it necessary :'(.

I have 1.5GB to use so it's not like it's going to affect me browsing normal.

What's everyone elses thoughts?

We will address the issue as soon as we can in the meantime please sob quietly in the corner so as not to cause a scene the man with your comfort food should arrive within 20 - 30 minutes.

You might already know of this but you're able to use normal skins on your phone as well. To do this go here:

http://www.habboxforum.com/profile.php?do=editoptions

then look for the option which resembles:

And select "disabled".

We've only ever had two mobile skins and both are relatively recent. Both should work fine for posting around the forum :)

No? We had that absolutely horrendous text based one which was WAP version almost. Even after we changed to a new default layout for the forum it still had that hideous orange and blue colour. And the new one doesn't show PMs for me. The middle one (which is "legacy" on here) is the only decent one which looks copied from forumlol.net

A hollow accusation I think because we likely had the skin before ClubHabbo did. Anywho, neither fansite created the skin ourselves, it's a free third-party downloadable skin.

Private messaging should work on our new mobile layout, you might just have to refresh several times because it was recently fixed :P

mate, hate to break it to you but we didn't. I'm sure if you look back over Blinger / Blinger1's posts you'll find that we suggested that we copy theirs.

I wouldn't mind bar the fact the mobile skin is unusable. I can only view the first page of threads and can't view visitor messages and when you click full site mode it doesn't let you. please remove it aaaaa

No one is copying anyone, Habbox or ClubHabbo didn't make the actual skin in the first place. It doesn't really matter.

I don't know what to tell you because as I said before neither fansite made that skin, it's freely available from the internet so neither fansite took it from the other.

You likely have to disable mobile detection, then you should be good:

I said we likely did, I never said we did for sure - as I wasn't the one to install that skin :)

I'm telling you for a FACT it wasn't available to members before clubhabbo.
also, you can't reply to a thread on the legacy skin because it doesn't post the text or something. Says you gotta enter 6 or more characters.

-shrugs- I'm really not sure why this matters, I'm quite glad we have a mobile skin, and Tapatalk at all :P

Interesting, I'll take a look at this tomorrow after class!

I'm just clearing the fact for you because you said that we had it before CH, when we didn't. now stop trying to cause an argument!

Also, when you try to navigate away from a page with a reply box it says "are you sure you want to leave this page?"

that new mobile skin we had installed late september is ******* awful. i'm not sure why we didn't just stick with the old one which working perfectly fine cross-platform. this one is so glitchy and ugly and buggy and pretty pointless as a mobile skin as you can't even view past the first page of threads, let alone reply.

The new mobile skin came with the new version of vBulletin. It's buggy because, well, in my opinion it was released by vBulletin prematurely. It should work better after some recent fixes but if a lot of folks still don't like it we could always set the legacy mobile skin to the default :)

I'm not trying to argue in the slightest, I'm not angry in any of my replies at all!

I'll look into that leaving page message today as well.

Firstly, I can't get onto edit options on my phone/iPod as this stupid skin says it doesn't exist.

Secondly, when I get the link off Matt to take me to the old mobile skin the forum index works and when I try to click anything it re-directs to the ugly one. It's simply un-usable on my iPod but works on my BlackBerry so...

It sounds like you still have mobile device detection enabled - that's not a problem with a skin. Have you disabled that in usercp?

edit: What version of iOS are you using?

I'm not sure why vBulletin didn't add a post editing feature to their own mobile skin but I've just created one which is working for me on my iPhone now. Hopefully that will work for you too on 3.1.3 but if not, you'll need to upgrade to iOS 4/5 (you can still jailbreak iOS4 untethered if that's why you're hesitant).
