I don't know why but I'm constantly worrying about losing my hair. My dad is the only one in the family that has lost his hair naturally and it's always on my mind. My granddad had a brilliant head of hair but he didn't wash it daily and that's probably why. I wash my hair daily because if I don't it looks really horrible and greasy. I was thinking about getting some Alpecin shampoo in order to strengthen/prevent any possibility of hair loss but I'm not really sure, the reviews for the product are pretty good though.

Has anybody else ever worried about hair loss and if so what did you do?

Stop stressing about it, stress causes hair loss.

Just wash 1 day, miss one, wash again.

My hair is my best feature so how can I not worry? Losing my hair would have a catastrophic impact on my confidence.

I'll probably wash one day with shampoo and another without.

Confidence shouldn't come from your image! Stop worrying about it just wash it as normal, if it recedes with age i'm sure a lot of other features would have went before hand

Doesn't baldness tend to skip a generation? So like if your granddad's got a full bush you should be fine and then you can laugh when your kids go bald

YES! Listen to this person, he's absolutely right.

So what, if you lose your hair - if you care more about hair than anything else, that's slightly worrying. Nothing wrong with being bald as you grow older, a lot of people are... they don't care that much.

Just, listen to what 'Accipter' said. :L

I live in the real world and as a seventeen year old male who is turning eighteen a receding hairline is simply not an option.

Yeah but the granddad I was talking about was on my mothers side and I didn't meet my dads dad so I couldn't tell!

The reply I gave Accipter applies to this response also.

Yeah, I'd do that if I had the cash and things got well bad.

yeah washing your hair daily increases shedding, irritates scalp and weakens hair, you should deffo stretch washes. you can wash with just water and/or use dry shampoo on the days you're not using shampoo. the less you wash your hair, the less oil you'll produce and the less you need to wash. that's how i keep my hair thick...
not sure what you can do about hair loss, don't worry about it until it happens

Loss of hair is mainly caused by stress, this depends on your lifestyle. If you're out and about, or doing whatever makes you happy... Less stress.
Also certain things like hair loss do skip a generation and I know usually people say hair falls out with gel, washing hair too much... But this isn't just as simple as that.

Give this a quick read... Hair Loss... (http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/men/general/081.html)

pretty sure you can buy shampoo on the high street now that has caffeine in to stimulate hair growth/thickness for men scared of losing their hair. not sure if it works, i don't use it haha, but it's worth a go.

Stress can be one factor and the way you wash your hair can affect a lot too. So, you can try googling the correct way to wash your hair.

you don't get cosmetic treatments on the nhs. i don't have ten thousand to fork out on a hair transplant which isn't needed yet, i have long hair.

I've never actually heard of someone losing their hair at 18...I think you're stressing over something that is;
1. Hereditary - Therefore there's not a lot you can do.
2. Not likely to happen to you anytime soon.
3. Not definitely going to happen, only time will tell.

If you do start to lose your hair, I'm sure you'll be at an age where your confidence will be coming from the inside, and not things on the outside.
Just stop worrying :)
