K, So I was browsing through my documents, tidying them up etc. and then I found some with some really weird names;

I have no clue what they are, so I tried to take a look in them an this is what I saw:

.. I had no idea what they are, so I tried opening 1 of them and It denied me access? So I cannot access my own documents :L :

I googled it, and some people said it was something to do with windows update and others said it was a virus, so I just gave up and came here. Any idea what they are? :/

Can't really tell without the file path but they look like cache files, windows internal files or something similar, don't worry about them and don't delete them. They're very important probably.

Agreed, leave them alone for now.

They're definitely Microsoft related... Microsoft Office uses a similar folder name structure e.g. 1040 for a folder name. If you have Windows Live installed it could be for Messenger, Live Gallery etc.

It's annoying things like this are installed in the Documents folder, when they're clearly not documents and should be kept in the Computer\My Programs area.

I installed windows live 3 days ago (for the 4th time) and I don't remember seeing those documents before, so it could just be that :P

Don't worry - I haven't deleted them xL (a)

They could possibly be from a backup which has been restored or something (I have similar files on an old external)

I really wish Windows would name its stuff easier lol. There's a lot of folders with random named folders inside, would make it a lot easier to remove stuff if you knew what was what
