San Andreas is unbelivable. Even now, I do not get bored of just firing up the PS2 and roaming. I love the fact that, as well as the big three built up cities, it has loads of vast open areas of countryside and desert. I'm getting so nostalgic right now, I think I'm gonna start a new game on San Andreas :D

Really hoping it's not Liberty City again. Vice City was still my favorite, 4 just felt like a remake of 3 imho. SA was fun, it just seemed like it was missing something... VC had style that no other GTA has had so far.

Vice City or San Andreas would be good. I remember getting a 4 or 5 star wanted level, taking the Nevada plane and being chased by Hydras. Nothing is more fun than being shot at by Hydras and seeing if you can dodge the missiles :P

As for the moment, I can only dream as there's so little information.

imo they really should've set it in a different location than the usa, like London or something. it's really boring now. it's like they think that adding better graphics with every release will satisfy everyone, when really the storylines and everything else are ****.

Perhaps some kinect functionality to the mix? Maybe a gym minigame type thing to increase your characters upper body fighting abilities? (obviously able to do with controller, but kinect would be better progression) Just a small brainwave.
Highly doubt kinect will have any part but I can dream can't I :P

Maybe even an expansion with London in? (similar to how GTA London was an expansion of sorts)

I don't really see why people like Vice City so much, I preferred GTA3 and SA, I thought Vice City was just lame, ah well, what I think is more important to me than what others think, I just hope it's more like GTA3, easily the best GTA game.

SA was so varied with its locations, the gangs and poverty in Los Santos, the crazys and rednecks out in Angel Pine and the surrounding towns and the huge open countryside. There was the mafia and posh streets of San Fierro and of course the fantastic remake of the Golden Gate bridge. Then we had the the massive open desert with its few and far between creepy towns and the infamous recreation of Area 51. And last but not least, the fantastic recreation of Las Vegas, Las Venturas. The map is simply enormous! SA had it all :D

Just had to come on here when I heard the news. Not been on in a very long time, but can remember the forum going nuts when GTA IV was announced so it feels good to be back.

Really looking forward to this. I do feel that GTA IV, whilst a good game, was the worst in the series (excluding GTA I and II). Really hope R* go back to what they did with SA and VC - IV was just too realistic in my opinion, and whilst I don't want the game to be super crazy *coughSAINTSROWcough*, I loved the level of fun that SA brought. Also hope that they avoid setting it in Liberty City and modern day because I think R* excel when they set their games in different periods, shown more recently by the awesome Red Dead Redemption. I also think having games set in the 80's/90's allow for better soundtracks - I imagine that it was hard to get big name artists on the IV soundtrack due to publishing rights. Much easier to get publishing rights from artists who are has beens and need to make a quick buck!

So happy that they've skipped Vice City and gone onto San Andreas.. it really had it all - I loved the desert, countryside and Vegas recreation! The graphics showcased on the trailer look phenomenal as do the vehicles and multiple terrains, to say the least I'm extremely excited! :D

I wouldn't actually mind Rockstar DLCing the two other cities if they're a decent size with a nice long campaign on each one, I don't expect LC size for all three but maybe the size of Algonquin plus Alderney/Brokers for each one. I'd say that the Episodes from LC were worth dlc price so having extra cities as well would be pretty pimp. It's basically an expansion pack really.

I expect a map the size of San Andreas to start with. A bigger expandable map from there would make the game the best game ever released.

Should this use the San Andreas map and they fail to make it at least as big as the original San Andreas, they will get endless complaints. Someone on another forum suggested it might only be Los Santos but I don't believe it for the second. Plus, Mount Chilliad is visible in the trailer (it's near Angel Pine in the original San Andreas).

I'm definitely going to start playing San Andreas again, probably tomorrow :D

Los Santos is the only major city in GTA5 so far, it will feature a lot of the surrounding areas but it will not have the other cities, a bit of a shame really because I felt that would of made for a much more interesting map but I imagine the city will simply be bigger this time around.

They said this morning,Rockstar said its LosSAntos, the surrounding beaches and country.
So not the entire state...
Although it would be somewhat nice, yet it will have some downfall in the game,cause like in GTA SA when sweet goes in the hospital and you start out in the woods, the game changes, the paces becomes quickker once in san fierros and even quicker once in venturas

Well it isn't completely confirmed but all signs seem to point towards it being the case, Rockstar could add it as DLC, not sure I would pay for that but you never know, honestly I think it's better that it's just one city because the attention to detail in the trailer alone is amazing and might actually make the overall feel of the game better.

Guys, you have to remember, the reason they shrunk from SA to IV was so they could add more detail, if you think back to IV you could enter like 40% of the buildings, whereas in SA you could only enter maybe 3-4%, mostly only in missions. Los Santos will probably be larger than LC, hopefully they have the sense to DLC/Expansion/Sequel the other two cities and we've got some countryside so people can enjoy all that.

I'm sure that's no where near to scale, even when it says close enough... Hennigan's Stead is pretty small, but it's hard to imagine and compare.

I guess San Andreas would need to be a large map simply to take into account the planes.

In the 4th gen series, we saw Liberty City remade as Rockstar originally wanted to have it, but due to limitations with the original xbox and playstation 2, they were unable to do it. As far as I'm concerned GTA IV was pretty boring and all the same, much like the Ballad of Gay Tony thing they did. I would love to see a GTA that was more free roam than the last one and because I haven't played GTA 3, San Andreas or Vice City, I cannot judge on them however, from what people have said they were a lot better. Something that would interest me would be having little islands of jungle or full-blown cities or little countries in the sea surrounding the (usually) 3 islands.

This might sound a bit stupid but I would love to see an element of Sims in it, and what I mean by that is being able to kind of personalise the people you spend the most time with, i.e. family or friends. I really hated the fact that you couldn't make your own outfits on Ballad of Gay Tony, I really hope they sort that out.

But generally I am looking forward to it, because most of the time they make it slightly better.

They did this to some degree in San Andreas and GTA IV (without TBoGT and the other one). It's something they could consider as it isn't a necessity to the game but could appeal to the audiences that like to customise their characters to suit their needs. Come to think of it, couldn't you be-friend contacts in GTA IV to unlock interesting features like a taxi to a location of your choice AND a car that gave you discounted weaponry?
