Hey,
I'm just thinking if we should do free hosting. If we do, it would have basic ticket support, signups etc. Each account will have 100mb space, and 1Gb bandwidth. It will have a 10mbit port which will have unmetered bandwidth. We are not sure if we should offer free hosting.

Yes, it would be a breech if a client gave free hosting. I am not the client, i am the owner.

Michael.

Yes, as it could be a good advertising opportunity for you, put a little button at the bottom of the page, not too big, and I wouldn't mind ;)

The base servers are priced around £75/mo for unmetered. Giving that away free could rip my wallet up.

U spend enough on forums to spread the wallet

I'm not sure i could earn money from free hosting, but i don't have anyscripts to put text ads on the bottom of clients either.

Ill see if i can get any . . .
But as for his freewebs idea, If you want to add or make a sitebuilder, get one like MoonFruits - Its quite good for a Site Builder

Personally, stick with the CPanel.
But it you want to invest in a sitebuilder get one like MoonFruit.com
The last time I was on it was about 2 years ago, when I was even mroe of a n00b, and it does have everything. Scripts to put in easy. Its brilliant for a site builder, but like dude, I'm like SOOOO over that

But they will be able to edit the .htaccess with ftp.
JoeComins

Dont you have the global HTAcess thing, and they wouldn't be able to edit that I dont think, or maybe encrypt it
TheGSP

They could simply delete the file. I can make it so when they sign up, the .htaccess will be placed in the dirs.
JoeComins

It cant be that, so they can delete it other wise, people would sign up for the banner supported hsots with more space and take the banenrs off, would they not?

Not unless u were putting them in all the diretys for people hosting, i ment just put it in the above directory, so it effects all of them, and they cant edit it "/

humm, im not sure on the struture your useing, but it would be best just aboive the free hosted peoples diretys as you wouldnt want it adding banners to paying customers as well "/

Hey,
They would be getting subdomains. I would be using cPanel, with linux. The dir would be:
/home/USERNAME/Therefileshere
