View Full Version : Jack Wills
What's the brand 'Jack Wills' like in the rest of the country? In the North East, it isn't really that big, seeing as there's only one shop - durham; and with some of the areas in the North East, it also wouldn't 'fit in' :P
But what's it like in the rest of the country?
I'm intrigued. :')

Manchester is more Hollister I reckon, since we have one in the Trafford Centre. Superdry also does okay and I do see Jack Wills quite often.

I think Superdry is dying here, yet we've got a Hollister in Eldon Square, but i don't see many people wearing it.. :S weird how the location can affect styles :')
The closest Jack Wills to me is in London, I think. It wasn't really anything special, in Reading there's a huge Hollister hype. (Well, my year is obsessed.)
jack wills opened yesterday here but im sure my 2012 the chavs will have taken it over like they did with hollister when it came here ;l

I love that hollister shop!
I see quite a few people wearing hollister and jack wills, but that's because of the school I go to and where I live.
Hollister is probably the most popular though :)

Hollister, Superdry and Jack Wills are all quite popular where I live in Kent. I guess having Bluewater on the door step would be the reason why they're so popular.

Jack Wills isn't very popular round here.
Superdry shop opening in 4 days - so that is sure to become more popular.

Jack Wills used to be big near me but as with all "high-end" chains once you have one nearby it's popularity.. plummets.

I think the closest Jack Wills store to me is Manchester so its rarely seen here cause its too much effort to travel for an hour to go to a shop xD But i have seen 1 boy wear a Jack Wills hoody that's about it!
Interesting :P All the 'chavs' around here, go to the Metro Centre or Eldon Square, so Durham is rather civilized - thankfully the brand won't get taken over here ;D
erm we live nowhere near jack wills or hollister it would probably take 2 hours on train but girls in my year still shop there, even boys. Everyone wears the Jack Wills gillet things and hoodies, but mostly girls. Boys wear superdry hoodies, jack wills hoodies/tshirts, henleys jeans and some boys wear jack wills gillets. As I said hollister is quite popular too but not many people wear hollister clothes to school.

they just opened a hollister shop in the arndale in manchester and there's a hollister shop in the trafford centre too. i agree with shaz it's mainly hollister and superdry.
oh wow i'm surprised people live so far away from jack wills. one of my best friends from uni works at the jack wills in canterbury, so we used her discount quite regularly and now i'm back home there's a jack wills in birmingham city centre. but obv without claire's discount, not there as much hahahaha.

There isn't a jack wills where I live but there is one an hour or so away just outside of London, but as others have said it's mostly Hollister and Superdry now - as it seems where I live the jack wills rage has died down a bit!!

Its exact what the others said;
Hollister/gillyhicks/superdry; have all taken over. I live in the most chavvish place in london (west london brav;)) so you see alot of people wearing hollister and superdry; however my cousin loves jack wills the closest place i can get jack wills is in a selfridges department; its like 20minutes on the train; so its not very popular in london; probably would be if they plotted some in shopping centres in london.

this ^^
and cos i'm on the outskirts of kent, london's close so it's like... WEAR ALL THE BRANDS.
I don't personally like any of the branded stuff, but I was sort of turned when I bought hollister jeans cos they're good quality....

You'd be surprised. Chavs took over the brand Paul's Boutique which is £65 for a hoodie and up to £80 for a bag. I have both but don't use anymore because it's gone over the top tacky now all chavs have them.

Round here those brands are still very much chav free.

alongside chavs wearing vans, jack wills is a trend that needs to die out

jack wills is tacky as hell. uninspired clothes for uninspired people. overpriced as well.
seriously you can get better stuff just buy going to normal high street shops like zara. cheaper as well.

How is it 'tacky'? Admittedly some of the stuff I'd never be seen dead in, but most of it looks quite smart..

The hoodies are essentially a plain hoodie with two words on it, priced at £69. Over priced or am I missing the point?

Bit of both really. I understand people like paying above and beyond to fit in with their friends, but £69 for a hoody that just says WILLS on it is ridiculous. In my experience the people that buy from their are pretty much thick, so at least it's a nice warning to discourage any conversation with them

pretty much as the post below you says, paying something ridiculous for an uninspired hoodie that just says "WILLS" on it is incredibly tacky for me. you are paying for the brand essentially, and one that really isn't that great to begin with.
it makes me laugh how they are claiming to be a 'university outfitters' when the majority of people i see wearing JW are 14 year old girls, who accompany their tacky ass hoodies with leggings and uggs. clones.

I've never seen Jack Wills where I live which is Dundee. I had a look on their website for the sake of the thread and I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. It looks like an average-at-best clothing brand and I would much prefer non-brand sites like River Island, Topman and ASOS.

Mate of mine is obsessed with Jack Wills.. But how is it a 'University Outfitter'? All my mates at uni wouldn't be able to afford £69+ for a shirt from there, even getting the cheap stuff they're still scrounging haha!

it's for the posh (and probably ugly) uni kids who probably enjoy being "fabulously british" while all of their clothes are probably made in a chinese sweatshop. scandalous.
Our only store just opened a few weeks ago. Hollister opened not that long ago and it is literally like everyone is wearing it.

There's a Superdry and Jack Wills. As far as I can tell, it's awful looking crap that needs a mortgage to afford. Not sure what the appeal is really, it's extortionate :/
in guernsey we don't have any of JW hollister or Superdry but quite a few people wear it because I order it in or get it when i'm over. I went toCambridgethe other day and have never seen so many JW gilets in one place in my life, i was wearing mine and i'm used to being the only one! They have JW hollister and sdry so it's a mixture but obviously it is their uni outfitter! I love all three at the moment favouring JW because i love their christmas stuff and then hollister in the summer because that's the way it is designed to be i guess. Sort of unsure with JW skiwear but i suppose it's a natural step after a gym range haha.
also to people who say it's crap it's actually really good quality and i complement it with primark so i have no problem paying "over the odds"

In Leeds we have a pretty big Jack Wills in the city centre, and loads of people were wearing it at one point. Not so many at the moment though, and I've never been a big fan. A bit expensive for what it is tbh.

But I really dont know how its "Chavvy"?, How can these chavs afford £100 gilets and £70 hoodies?

yeah i agree it's not chavvy and you can dress in it without people knowing if you buy the right stuff just because you like it. I just can't stand like the new look knock offs because they never look as good.
