Is there a way to receive PMs from someone @'ing you, but disable pm from someone quoting you

As if someone @'s me, I have no idea (I have quote PMs disabled as soon as i reply to a thread its subscribed so i can see it anyways) as people can @ me without me ever looking at the thread

Is there an option for this that I'm missing, or would it be possible to enable/implement?

Hopeless

stephen just do namehere with [@]@[/@] rather than a. also, i agree with o/p. i dont want pms each time im quoted but if i'm specifically mentioned i would like a pm.

Yeah but that's effort. WOuld be cool if it removed the [@]@[/@] after posting for easypeasyness

agree with both suggestions here, think it might look tidier without the [@]@[/@] and a specific "you have been tagged" PM would be nice. but it's new and it's good so far, woo.

are there not problems when people type smilies like :[@]@[/@]. you need to somehow make sure that the [@]@[/@] should only hyperlink to another page if it's that of a forum member.

yeh like "ADD ME AT HABBOXFORUM[[[@]@[/@]][@]@[/@]][@]@[/@]HABBOXFORUM[/[@]@[/@]][/[@]@[/@]].COM"

The way its working atm is stupid as everytime you say [@]@[/@] it's linking lol

should only be if username exists in the users db, and isn't an email.

I agree with everyone. I hope you can do something about [@]@[/@] [@]@[/@] [@]@[/@] [@]@[/@] [@]@[/@] [@]@[/@] [@]@[/@] [@]@[/@] . Also some sort of a PM/notification about being tagged would be nice. :D

You do get contacted when being tagged, but it's merged with quoting atm and I think it's being split some time soon as well as us getting a notification bar instead of a PM (i think)

We don't use any plugins that people have created outside of Habbox. We are using something that David created himself (IIRC), there is a few problems with it as reported in this thread and I'm pretty sure we will able to get them all sorted soon for you guys. Thanks to everyone who has mentioned the problems with it so far! :)

Ohhh yh I just noticed that. I hope it does get split because it's confusing me atm :(!! Ooh a notification bar is a good idea I hope that gets sorted soon.

[@]@scottish[/@] You should be able to disable the PMs in your UserCP settings, and you will still be able to view when people post towards you on this page: http://www.habboxforum.com/usercp.php

Discussion about having a custom notification for when people direct conversation to you is an interesting idea, and something I'll look at creating for a future update.

the who quoted you is a huge ugly area, and a PM is absolutely pointless for every quote

Would be better to split PMs or notification/visitor message.

[@]@scottish[/@] You can disable notifications if you'd like in your UserCP settings. I've just checked on the dark skin and the quoted box looks alright on it (if you're using another skin or it's not working properly for you give me a shout though).

With regards to individual notifications for mentions as aforementioned I'd like to implement that for a future update too :)

Yeh i've got it disabled, thats the problem :p

I'd like to be notificated on [@]@[/@], as I have no idea when it's done, but when someone quotes me, i'm subscribed to the thread (as i've already posted in it)

So only way around it is to be pms on [@]@[/@] and quote, or neither.

Only option i've got to notice them when it's not PM'd is to enable that usercp thing, but I use usercp constantly, and that box is ugly so would rather just a) Simply get a PM on an [@]@[/@] and not a quote or b) Receive a VM/Notification on an [@]@[/@] and not a quote

I see what you mean, I'll look into adding another enable/disable option.

It does work with it, that's the problem for you :P

I'm searching for either a space, comma or exclamation-mark at the end of usernames to know when to register a username, so unfortunately where your name ends with the period tagging wont work for you. Scott's just suggested the addition of something where you could do "[@]@Dave[/@].;" in the event that your username has a period or other hotletter at the end.

Similar, but it would also have to use ! , . as breakers, so resembling:

(?:(?<!\[)@([^ |$|!|.|,\]]+))

And also for folks with spaces in their name, or the above @([^@]+?); to let you do things like [@]@forum god[/@];

New line should cancel itPost example, i know on another forum there was a problem with chrome (I think it was chrome) where posting links would also link the first letter in the new line)i.e. if I linked 'it' it would also continue to link the 'P' on the next line, so could be same type of problem.[@]@publicised[/@]starts a new line

edit: Interesting bug, it should be breaking at new lines already, curious as to why the above worked fine for me as it should, but did not work for you. I'm either attempting to break it incorrectly, or your browser must be using something PHP doesn't see as \n to break lines.

I thought they wanted to have the @ part removed as part of it being implemented?

you should make it so iit works with only registered Users. I.e. if i type @Blingerzz it'd actually link @Blinger 's profile.

Using tapatalk i dunno if it does that yet.

scottish
18-11-2011, 09:22 AM
if you don't want the @ part showing then type [.[@]@]username[/@][./@] without dots ofc.

HotelUser
18-11-2011, 12:27 PM
[@]@blinger[/@] I like having the @ showing as to folks know it's a tagging. It should link to profiles now, having it work only for registered users might be something worth looking into. Also I'm not surprised it doesn't work with tapatalk or forum runner. Neither seem to respect vBulletin hooks :P
