When will Joeyk. be posting some debates, I wanna get into them, but it has been awhile since there has been one! So????
i think you should've perhaps left joey's name out of it and just asked when there would be a new debate posted. i think there's plenty of members debates around at the moment for you to get into though!

I swear you are obsessed with Debates will :P!
He could be away at the moment or something like that but there are many reasons as to why there hasn't been any new ones. Writers block maybe ;)!
I'm sure he'll grace our screens soon!

As far as I'm aware, JoeyK. is currently away. However, all members including yourself can post a new debate in the members debate section :).

There are loads of debates, if you're a debate enthusiast like a reply in this thread suggests then you'd be happy to reply to any debate. :)

I agree with Zeptis, I've known Joey for ages but I feel after more than TEN DAYS of Sct closing debates leaders (if I remember rightly it took like 13 days) it's unfair the person he has chosen hasn't made any attempt at debates nor are we aware why there is none?
If you have other commitments (myself and Joey being adults it's a given!) then you shouldn't have taken up the job.
Poor show.
I understand why Zeptis may be a bit peeved by it, I am. I only partake in official debates when I can.
if anyone is wondering, I did apply for debates leader.

Joey had to go away due to some personal reasons last week hence there being no debate. There will however be a debate posted this Sunday for you all to take part in.

So then why didn't one of your moderators or... yourself do it?
Surely you should have an assistant manager scott you seem to be really slow at most stuff.

Because Joey is the debates leader and it's up to him to post debates not the moderators. Like I said there will be a new debate this weekend anyway! :)

So you knew he'd be away, and rather than ask him to give you a debate title or make one yourself you figured you wouldn't bother?

No I didn't know he would be away, we had a few discussions a few days prior to the Sunday that it was meant to released on and everything was fine for that then something came up and he wasn't here. I didn't know he would be away and neither did he or something would've been sorted.

With respect, the position of Forum Manager is big, busy and very varied. I think you are being rather harsh here. It is only 7 days and as Scott said he will do one when he get back. It is not the end of the world. Have debates being posted every 7 days in the past? I think the OP was rather premature in even posting this thread. People are allowed to be away.

I have always thought there should be more debates staff. It could be made into an entire department and official debates could be posted three times a week, and there could be more emphasis on it as a department.
I think it would get members to the more serious currant affairs and debates area of the forum. It could attract a new kind of member.

I just don't think there'd be enough for them all to do if there was a whole department :P.

I thought of this too, but instead oh making it a normal sized department make it a mini department with like 2 assistant debates leaders and when the debate leader resignes one of the assistants can take there place and you would choose a replacement for the assistant with applications

We already have enough departments, we don't need to make ones we don't need. :P
I think the official debates shouldn't get overused really, I think this once a week (which is meant to be happening) idea is much better as there should be a wide range of things to debate about over time along with winning the month of VIP each week. After all, if you're keen to prompt a debate, that's what the members debates section is there for.

The member debates are there for quite some time and how can you say you didn't think of that? Lol. I was wondering too why there's not new debate posted but since Joey is away, it's alright then. :D

I thought there was no Debates Leader anymore :S I seem to keep seeing Debate Leader applications at least - it is a bit of a dodgy position as you have to be as un-biased as possible - and debates happen freely, they shouldn't be restricted to specific times because you'll just lead to out-of-date topics.

It doesn't matter how long they have been there, I just didn't think of em :)

[@]@Catzsy[/@] I'd disagree?
It took scott 12/13 days AFTER closing debates applications (which they were open about... two weeks longer than they should have been roughly) for him to finally pick someone. I personally asked him several MILLION times about debates applications actually being decided on (before anyone claims that's unfair note I applied and of course didn't get it because I wasn't the best applicant/I've never been flavour of the month) and I was continuously told "tomorrow" "tomorrow night" "once I'm done work"
Maybe there should be more recognition of debates on this forum. Dear god this community is always going to decline at this rate and if people keep saying stuff like "debates doesn't matter as much as HXL" then people just shant bother.
I think it's a complete piss take personally. Not Joey's fault but surely someone could have made a debate in this time!?
POOR. SHOW.

Why does it matter how many departments we have, not like we pay anyone so finances is no excuse, having a couple more people supervising that forum and helping create debates would help the Forum run smoother, and that's really all we want, is to have a website the is efficient as possible.
First of all debates do not expanding into a whole department, unlike competitions due to a popularity factor. If debates do get more popular, then some small expansion can be done, but even then I'd be cautious.
Second of all, yes I do agree it took quite a bit to pick a debates leader from what I can see but Joey sadly had to go away and it is just cruddy luck. It's unfortunate that the last few debates leaders didn't get their head really into them, because if done weekly these debates can have some nice hard substance to them.
Also, telling the forum manager to create more debates isn't right because he has lots of work to do, so do the super mods and the whole team in general.

Because we don't need the department, they'd be overused, and because so many debates then exist, there is a high chance that there will be little actually contributing to them. How would the forum run smoother? As I said, I think the weekly debate (whatever day of the week that is, even if it changes on a week to week basis to make sure debates don't become out-of-date) works fine.
My point is that if you are really into debates, post them in the members debates section, we don't need to make a department for it. There wasn't a Jokes department when the forum existed where each member of staff had to post a joke! If the forum will "run smoother", surely the same principle in your opinion will occur by posting a members debate, because this top contributormalarkeyis only an added bonus.
