Ok, I saw this... and I felt so sick irl... I am not eating salad again now, especially not from tescos.
A shopper has said his family found a dead bird in a prepared salad he bought at a supermarket and served for dinner.
Paul Streeter from Weare, Somerset, said his girlfriend was sick after the carcass was discovered in a baby leaf and rocket salad bought at Tesco's Burnham-on-Sea branch.
He said: "I couldn't believe my eyes. It was horrific. She was seconds away from eating it."
Tesco said it would be conducting a "thorough investigation".
Mr Streeter said he visited the shop on Saturday and came home to prepare a meal of pizza and salad for his girlfriend and children.
He emptied the salad into a bowl and presented it to his family at the dinner table before returning to the kitchen.
'Decomposed and skeletal'He said: "Suddenly my girlfriend shrieked and couldn't believe what she'd found on her plate.
"She had ladled the salad onto her plate and thought she was cutting into one of the dark leaves and what she found was a dead bird.
"I didn't know what to think. I was concerned about the health of my family as they had eaten some of the salad."
He said the bird was "decomposed and skeletal".
A Tesco spokesperson said: "We take matters of this kind extremely seriously and are very disappointed to learn of this incident.
"Ensuring our food is of the highest quality is extremely important to us and we and our suppliers have robust systems in place to prevent foreign objects getting into products.
"We are in contact with the customer and have apologised."
Here's a picture in the spoiler... (it's not really horrible or gory... but I wouldn't want someone who's eating to see this... especially someone eating a salad)

saw this earlier on the bbc news site, absolutely vile. it just proves that there's been no checking of that salad at all because it's not exactly a tiny carcass.
EWWWWWWW.That is revolting. I would be like heaving inrl if that was me.

It's not an awful picture, but I certainly would feel sick seeing that on a plate given the context of actually eating the salad. It's amazing no checks were done! How it got mixed up in the leaves is beyond me, obviously they just chuck it in a machine and have it do the rest.

Tbh, I don't think Tesco check any of their food XL - Last year, some woman found a dead mouse in a loaf of bread she bought from Tesco :S

Aren't people supposed to inspect the bags of Salad before they are shipped to the market? Unless somebody was wanting to try and be funny and cut the bag open and slip the bird right in and put it back on the shelf.

I saw this the other day. It's quite disturbing to think that a dead bird wasn't spotted before it was sold.

Don't see what the fuss is about.
I have twice got rolls from my local bakery with a fly in them, though I just got on with it and threw the rolls away.
Plus realistically it's too expensive to quality control a salad.
The Tesco works should have seen this though when they stacked the shelves...?

Yeah, it is rather expensive just to quality control a salad, I would assume though with Tescos being a huge business that they would improve their quality control.
McDonalds has a machine in their factory which slices/cleans/etc. lettuce and it cost them £200,000 :L and yet, their food is still disgusting x

This brings a whole new meaning to chicken salad.

They're just stackers. Quality control is usually left down to the factory it was produced, with exemption to in house producers that usually check for irregularities in the food they produce e.g. bakery, butcher, fish monger.
I suppose you could argue that the couple should of noticed it when they picked it up too :P

Indeed. Although in all fairness to them I don't check my food for corpses! :P

Man finds tooth in Tesco yoghurt (http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/2011/11/28/man-finds-tooth-in-tesco-yoghurt-92746-29854991/)
It's a Tesco Finest yoghurt too :P Puts a dampener on the the "luxury" brand, doesn't it? :P

How does a tooth end up in Yoghurt?
Or better yet, how does a dead bird end up in salad? Beats me.
Tesco seem to be at it again :p

Omg, that's absolutely vile! A bird skeleton is understandable... due to the salad coming from outside, but a tooth in a yoghurt?
EUGH.
