Okay so it's getting to that time of year again where I need to start revising a lot. Except this time (like last year) I just can't focus and get my head down. Whenever I sit down to do something I'm either too tired, end up finding something else to do or either just putting it to the back of my mind.
Can anyone help me out or give me some advice on how to focus and get my head down?

Ahh, this always happens to me ^_^

One of the things I do, is listen to music? All of my friends have said that music helps them loads with revision because they don't get as easily bored, but then you'd have to focus on the revision... not your favourite song.

Even if you're too tired or put it in the back of your head - just really think to yourself "what will happen if I don't do this revision and do terrible in the exam?" It's what I do - I'd rather not fail my GCSE's so I force my 'mind' to give me enough willpower to do some work.

There are quite a few fun revision techniques though, one of the easiest would be 'triggering words'. So let's say you needed to remember the 'Teleological theory' (a theory about how the world is designed by God - just like a STOPWATCH has been designed by it's maker), you could tell yourself to remember that the word 'Stopwatch' associates to 'Teleological Theory' if you get what I mean? XL

Basically, just chill down, listen to some music (DON'T TURN ON THE TV FOR THE LOVE OF.) and try to somehow make your revision enjoyable ^_^. If you do your revision before... Idk, doing your HxHD job, the job (if you find it enjoyable) can be seen as a reward for you doing some work ;D

* Most of my revision is just down to a lot of willpower though, but I often listen to music at the same time ;P

i also found it really hard to revise, and some of the best advice i can give is don't force it. it'll put you off even more. a good way to get things in quickly i find is by writing it up/copying it over and over again.

keep revision sessions short and have plenty of breaks and potassium rich food and all that rubbish. x

I tend to go to quiet places during the day if I wish to study, I get easily distracted too. If your college/school has a library I think that's the best place, my university library is always really quiet. Although though in a school atmosphere I always found libraries a little too loud. Public libraries would be good in that instance!

I like doing my work at night because i get distracted easily. No one contacts me, or has anything interesting to put on Facebook so that's when it works best for me. Only problem I face then is tiredness, but usually an energy drink sorts that out!

Write a plan up and try to stick to it. Like give yourself goals to have this done by a certain date. My teacher used to like test usevery so oftenso we were revising as we went along. Maybe ask them for some past papers for them to mark.

it's only gcse/a levels

no worries if you don't revise :p

schools always tell you to get a timetable and make a list of the times you're free and what to do when

I could never revise, so just didn't bother :S

You need to find your motivation to revise or else, it'll just irritate you whenever you want to revise. Try revising with your friends and use mind maps. I always use mind maps to help me revise and they are very effective. It helps me remember even more facts and stuff.
