On the Australian Apple Store, the discount is $121. Converting that in to GBP, if they go for around the same amount then it could be about £80 off. We'll find out tomorrow though :P.

£80? That's a bit rubbish compared to the student discounts :P

In the US it's also $121 which is roughly £70-80, so could be good discounts for us too.

Apple's actually giving discounts on things?

£31 reduction on the iPad 2, that's the biggest discount they can do...

Just got back from PC world to get sisters computer.

While there mum noticed they had Macbook Pro what I wanted for christmas.
PC world said they'd match Apples price so took, £81 of it. So just got it then, but not aloud to christmas.

Speaking of PC World, from their Black Friday sale I just scored a 20" AOC 2036SA 1600x900 monitor. Perfect for my workshop.

£50. Bargain.

Why do we have Black Friday all of a sudden and how do we ship it back to the US? Awful name for a marketing event - there was nothing wrong with the name "Christmas Shopping" :/ It sounds like Black Plague or Black Death. Let's hope we don't start cramming ourselves into shops and crushing other humans beneath our feet.

That said, I got a good amount of bike accessories for cheap today - from the Black Friday Christmas Sales.

Black friday, when the company books go from red (debt) to black (profits) ;)

I'm sure we never even had this in the UK last year?

I think it's only recently started to hit the UK from last year and this.

We didn't, because it doesn't make sense - it's a wild assumption to assume a day can magically make your accounts go from red to black in a single day :P In fact, most companies who follow this strange, American marketing ploy are in the black anyway (Amazon and Apple are the two I understand followed a Black Friday campaign).

Christmas is a good time for retailers to make money, they need not call it Black Friday :P Commericialisation of Christmas is a good time generally, it need not need a dark name - especially when the books aren't acounted for until the end of the tax year, so you could well have a red Friday waiting for you in April :P

EDIT: John Lewis Parnership have made themselves in the red anyway, they may not see profits until the New Year. As you can tell, I hate daftly named days which make absolutely no sense :P Ship it back to the US, with reversed charges.
