View Full Version : Not the same
I don't know if I'm the only one like this, but for me Christmas just isn't the same as when I was younger. When you're a kid, you get all excited, seems like it takes forever to get here, you get up early on xmas morning. Now as an adult, it seems more just like any other day, it's still fun but it has lost the feeling of excitement and such. Anyone else feel this way?

Same. Christmas hasn't been the same for a while. part of growing up. :(

Seeing how like I understand more about what's going on in the world and the economic situation, I'm not fusses on receiving much this year, much rather give people stuff, especially my parents.
I don't feel much different, I know that I don't feel the exact same about Christmas as I used to and I'm sure things will change even more as I become older and grow up. I'm currently 15 (16 in January) and I still get excited about Christmas, it's not all down to getting presents, it's mainly because I just love it when my family get together and have a day where we don't have to worry about anything and just have fun. I don't get much 'family time' with my parents which is mainly because of school and work. I do have to say that Christmas is my favourite time of the year and hopefully, it always will be. :(

Yea, it's fully different. Maybe because adults don't trust Santa anymore? Hmm..

Yeah I'm personally starting to lose the point in Christmas, it's just free crap day pretty much. I think my view might change a bit more when I move out and start a "new type" of Christmas (like Christmas day with friends rather then my family, maybe kids in the future etc) as I think I may just be getting a bit bored of it. I would rather my parents didn't buy me anything either, but I know they would want to get me something if they get my brothers things.

This really, Christmas is my favourite time of the year and like I get so excited for it. It's just a fab day where all my family can just relax and have fun so it's really nice that it's so laid back! :P

Christmas definitely isn't the same as it used to be, but I would never EVER label it as "just another day." Christmas is a big family event for me, especially if I stay home as opposed to going off to my mums. I have a rather large family that live all around the world as well as all over the UK. So a lot of the family come over for Christmas and it's pretty much the only time of the year we'll all be together, so it feels very important. We're a loving family, too, and despite my dad we're all quite festive. Especially my auntie whose house we usually go to on Christmas Day. So it's all very fun and everyone is having a fantastic time. Christmas is still very much Christmas to me, it's just harder to get excited now than it is when you're a kid. These days I'm more excited about friends coming back home from uni for Christmas, or going to see others over the holidays who live a distance away, as opposed to Christmas itself.

tbh I feel exactly the same. I was thinking the other day about how excited I used to be just from opening my Calender. But Now I feel nothing :\ I guess it just means we're growing up. The other day in town I saw a boy who must have been about 4 or 5 and he asked Is Santa coming tonight? I remember when I was like this :(
It feels just as exciting as it did 10 years ago.I still wake up at 4am and rush downstairs to open my presents. Then the family come and we speak n stuff.

Nothings changed for me, I'm still an overexcited little kid at heart! I enjoy being around my family, and Christmas is the one time when we all get together in the same room. :D

Well yeah once the santa thing is over for you it isn't as exiting. That said, christmas is still a feel good time of year for me.
