I don't understand runes.

Ok, im a newb to runescape i found this place where you kill goblins it's cool because i can get my attack up etc etc. But these goblins sometimes drop body runes and water runes. How do they work and what can i do with them??

They're used to cast spells, check the spellbook.

Enemys, monsters, other players when PKing. Or you can use laws to teleport, grab items that you can't reach ect..

Not to be poining out the obvious or anything...but al this was explained on tutorial island :\
Click on the spellbook on your control panel thing, hover over the spell you want to use and it will tell you what runes are needed...when you have all the runes needed, and the correct magic level, the spell will be lit up, meaning you can use it...
Then just click on it, and then click on whatever you want to cast the spell on.
