View Full Version : Driving to a party...
Didn't really know where to put this as it's not specifically about cars really.
Anyway, I have this house party tonight which I'm driving me and my friend to.
I do plan on getting drunk but I know my limit so like, I wouldn't be paraletic/****** or anything, I'll just be drunk.
The problem is, do I drive back in the morning? If I wait till about midday do you think I'll be okay? I think I will, but just want more opinions:)
if you sleep then you SHOULD be fine as long as you don't drink a **** load. but obviously you know yrself if you wake up and yr not with it you shouldn't be driving.

Remember its a round christmas and a lot of people generally get stopped and breathalised in this time of the year, so do be careful.

I think for every unit you drink you should wait an hour so try not to leave until after that. :)

Ah. That's what my dad thought as well D:

It's quite simple don't drink and drive. Try to get someone to give you a lift and stay safe :) There will be more than enough drunk drivers around who didn't plan ahead, and will regret their actions.

Good advice. You never know when you're going to get stopped and breathalised. Have fun! :)

Trust me, driving with a hangover is like the worst experience in the world
Thankyou everyone :) Needed opinions.
I'm going to drive, but tomorrow I'm not gonna come back until at least 12, otherwise I'll phone someone else for a lift and get my car later on. Definitely not driving if I feel even slightly hungover :)

I personally wouldn't chance it at all if I didn't have to but if you are then make sure you get plenty of sleep for sure so the hangover and alcohol effects lessen. I had a friend who thought he felt fine the morning after, about 11 am so he went to drive home and crashed. failed a breathilizer too so um yeah just be careful and leave it as late as possible.
I usually can't function the whole day that I'm hungover, I couldn't imagine driving.

ah okay doubting it a lot now...
I'm usually okay after drinking if I eat + drink a pint of water before I sleep :P I think I'll ring my friend and see what they say D:

I've done it numerous times (not trying to brag) but on my trip home it was Friday mornings, never a cop around especially since it was in the bush, not the city.
It is risky of course and I don't know what your license is like, but if you are allowed 0% BAC then I wouldn't risk it.

It takes ~ an hour for your body to process 1 unit of alcohol. Now, bare in mind, there are plenty of police around at this time of year and you can fail a breathalyser on just ONE unit, I wouldn't risk it even the morning after if I'm honest. A pint can vary from 1.7 - 2.5 units, you can see it'll add up very quickly.
... well saying that, I wouldn't ever risk drink driving, it's one of the most stupid things people do.

I've been in this situation many times, I have a rule to know when I'm ok to drive because sometimes I wake up and I'm still drunk. It's called the hangover rule. I get brutally hung-over, when I feel like **** I know I'm good to drive. Where I live the policy is "0 tolerance" - meaning cops smell booze, have any sort of trace of booze you lose your license for 2 days (weekend) and they tow your car if you blow over a .08 BAC you lose your license for a year, crash/cause an accident you lose your license for a minimum of 2.
It's simply not worth it for me.

Did you drive to the party in the end?

Yeah haha made sure I stopped drinking at a decent time and ended up sobering up a bit before sleeping, then in the morning had food + cups of tea with everyone then I felt fine :) Drove carefully though haha.
