okay so ever since i was 5 we got a dog because i was afraid of the dark and it slept with me, and this happened up until i was about 13 just by habit, obviously i wasn't still afraid of the dark.......obviously.....
now i got my other dog and lately he's been sleeping up here cos HE is too scared to sleep on his own, and im too lazy to go lock him downstairs cos he's quite tactical and knows to stay upstairs from around 8pm onwards.
it doesn't bother me besides all the injuries i've received from him biting me in the middle of the night etc
just wanna know how common it is
I used to sleep with my dog, Yorkshire terrier & me & double bed = lots of room :P, I'd wake up with him curled up next to me all time.
I want an alaskan malamute to sleep next to, mum won't buy one though :(
When I looked after my aunties dog for a long while it slept with me. I thought it was good tbh, he was warm so yeah. I did get a few injuries though but I wasn't too bothered! :P
yeh my dog sleeps on my bed and she goes under my covers

that's ******* disgusting you shouldn't have a dog
no as pets can carry all sorts of diseases that, whilstnot harmful to them, may be to me!
my dogs have their own bed so why let them in mine and get it all hairy

My cat isn't allowed on furniture, work surfaces or even upstairs. He malts like mad so we don't really want hairs all over the house.. :P

my dog doesn't like me very much so it only comes to me when there's no choice but she always slept in someone's bed. it doesn't bother us because she's small.

Does your cat coming in and attacking your feet count? I shut my door because of that now. Urrm no but before my dog died, he would often come and sleep in my room. Once he actually came in and lay on his side (so he wasn't like in a circle position) and I was next to him and had my arm over him and I accidentally fell asleep again (cos I just woke up) and he was still there, which was odd.

Me and my dad share the cat. She sleeps on his bed until he gets up to go work around 5am/6am, which is usually when I'm just going to bed, so then she comes and sleeps with me. When I'm at my mums the dog usually sleeps in his bed, but if I'm looking after him I let him sleep with me.

It's sort of common, I know a few people do it. It's difficult to get diseases from dogs and other animals in the UK as we seem to of built up an immunity from them, but it's not advisable in other countries. As long as the animal is clean and you're not doing anything unsanitary in the night you should be fine. Sleeping at the end of the bed or on the floor is the safest, or on the other side of the bed if you have a big enough one. I wouldn't like to imagine spooning a dog - and that's spooning in the dry sense of the word ;)

Yeah my dog use to sleep with me in my old house until we moved and she has a nice cushioned bed downstairs. I had her bed in my room and she could choose where to sleep although she did love the corner of the room!

Those who sleep with pets (especially dogs) and who don't get showers every morning should be aware that people can smell that awful dog smell whereas dog owners can't because they're used to it. As for myself I only have guinea pigs so I can't really have them in bed with me (not that I would anyway because I think its rather unhygenic) :P. I always wash my hands after touching them and they're my own pets, thats why I never pet dogs.

Naw I don't like hairs on my sheets and I don't like the idea of a cat using a litter tray then going all over my new sheets and trying to put its paws on my face while I sleep. I'll pass thanks :P
I do however sleep with my daughter Elizabeth, she's a babe. What an animal.
My dog isnt allowed inside unless it is cold out, if it is cold its only allowed in a bed by the door.

when we first got our second dog he loved my bedroom. But i hate it as my dogs dream and make noises which resulted in me not letting them in my room anymore. They sleep in my mum's room now

My aunt used to always sleep with cats.
Then she got an allergy to cats as a result two years later. Seems she breathed in too much cat hair at night.
True story, yet ironic.

My cat sleeps on my pillow in winter, leaving me to pile a blanket or something under my head. He's quite a vicious cat and really doesn't like being moved in the night.
My dog would die if she slept in anyone's bed but her own because she is about this big
Yes, really, she could fit in that space.

stewie (rag doll cat) sleeps with my mom and ganache (newfoundland dog) sleeps with me when i'm home, think he still sleeps in my bed when i'm not there...
nothing like waking up to a bear sized animal staring you in the face in the morning.

He bites you at night? Yikes that doesn't sound safe! Wait until he full out attacks you! I say put it downstaires before something bad happens to where you will have to put it down.

I have one cat and she sleeps in my bed most nights, i have a king sized bed, but i only sleep on one half of the bed, so she happily sleeps whenever on the other side, when i first got her she used to sleep close to me but then realised i move around alot in my sleep. :P

I prefer not sleeping with mine because I'm afraid I will roll in my sleep and hurt them but our cat which we rescued from the elements last year really likes sleeping in my room (probably because I'm a sucker for its cuteness and always give it the most attention).
My cat isn't allowed on furniture, work surfaces or even upstairs. He malts like mad so we don't really want hairs all over the house.. :P
This really, my cat isn't allowed in the bedrooms I'd hate sleeping with hairs etc

I dont have a cat or dog but if I had one I would kick the cat off the bed because they always seem to bite your toes if they are under the covers
I used to have a cat, but my mom wont let him come in to our house because she's afraid that the cat will scratch the furniture. and now he's gone :'(

my pugs are too fat to jump up on my bed, so no. But my old cat before he passed away at the age of 17 always hopped on my bed and layed beside and i woke up with a loud purr, it was like a cub :P

My cat's locked in the garage at night now, before though he used to annoy my parents in their room so I'd just end up with the neighbours cat on my bed in the middle of the night :P
