Dont know if this is new but if you hover over you stars it tell you how many points you need to get to the next star :)

I'm pretty sure it came when the game was re-released if i'm not mistaken.

i take it people with silver stars have completed the whole row of golds. i seen quitea few now and i couldn't think what else they were
