Couldn't you go for a i5 2500k instead? I think that's what the majority of people suggested in the other thread.

No point if he's not overclocking.

I am not going to be Overclocking however, would thei5 2500k make any difference if i'm not overclocking? or would it preform the same as the 2400k

Oh hang on, I see you selected the 2400 now. I'd definitely go for the 2500 (or the 2500k if you're overclocking)

Aaahh my bad, i didn't see it was just 2400 not 2400k :P

Ok i'll get 2500

EDIT: after that, is that a complete PC? If I put that all together will it work/is it all compatible?

EDIT2: The motherboard and optical drive are both 'out of stock' is there anything which is the same and in stock?

(Sorry this is my first custom pc, bit of a noob)

Pretty much any SATA optical drive will do.

I prefer Asus and Gigabyte motherboards.

Any recommendations? (Needs to be a LGA1155 socket)

I'm not up to date. I'm currently running an Asus P8P67, but there's probably better alternatives now as I got mine when LGA1155 first came out and Z68 didn't exist. Any ATX board on the Z68 chipset from one of these brands should be fine.

So I should get Z68 and not LGA1155?

Z68 is a chipset, LGA1155 is the socket.

You want an ASUS or Gigabyte Z68 LGA1155 motherboard.

How does this look from what you told me?http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz68xud3hb3

I think that would fit with all my other parts?

Thomas

and does this look on for the optical drive?http://pcpartpicker.com/part/lg-optical-drive-gh22np21
I'd only use it for installing the OS... maybe a few other things here and there but nothing special

Thomas

Could someone please confirm all my stuff including the two new items above would all fit and work together as a full PC? If yes i'm going to buy the parts :P

Optical drives are just optical drives, there's nothing really fancy about them and it doesn't really matter which one you go for as long as it's what you need and it works at the end of the day. It isn't like any other component, anyway this one should do you the job and it's under £20:

The motherboard I was going to buy is not out of stock.. again so i found another LGA1155 with a Z68 chipset:http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz68xpud3 How does that look? just need to someone to say thats fine and i'll buy all the parts :D

I'll be buying from here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-SKT-1155-Z68XP-UD3-Motherboard-Rev/dp/B0055057HG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325066571&sr=8-1

I think they are the same?

EDIT: Last question; do I need to buy any wires? or do all they wires come with the parts?

You should get all the wires you need. In my experience the only thing I've every been short of is a SATA cable, but that's not a problem unless you've got a lot of hard drives.

So your going to buy items from Amazon.com, the USA version? Surely you would be paying more for delivery.

Well the case is £80 from .co.uk so it think the posting i will pay for .com still makes it cheaper. The same with the power supply.

Not when you have to pay the customs tax for importing it. An item that large they are surely to check it.

Ebuyer have a bundle deal on the cooler master 690 lite case. Comes with a 650watt cooler master power supply. The case is usually £70 by itself iirc, so you're basically paying only £30 for the psu. Great case having owned of them before so I'd look into it.
