Say you liked MacBook Pro's and could get the 13in Pro, would you?
Or are there better laptops out there for ultimate PC gaming?

Need recommendations! Want a awesome gaming laptop thats fast, graphics amazing and fairly easy to take when moving?

If you want a fast laptop you can play games on, stay well clear from any Apple laptops.

Go with a Dell, Lenovo or ASUS machine.

Well, I did get a MacBook Pro for christmas this year. I'm not a gamer in any-way

But it's not gaming computer, so don't bother if you want it for games.

http://www.novatech.co.uk/laptop/range/nspire2760-blackedition.html- That is what I currently own, plays games reasonably well. There is another laptop with a better gpu, which you can customize to bring the price to £1069.

Unless you opt for the £1,700 MacBook Pro nowadays, you're stuck on an Intel Integrated HD3000 gfx card, which won't play squat. Unfortunate really, I'd have got the £1,000 if it wasn't for that.

Yeah I bumped my budget up so I didn't get entry level MBP. So using bootcamp with Windows 7 is a big help but I'm going to see if I can use XP instead of Windows 7 as I always find that a lot better for gaming.

MacBook is really handy for my work and college as I will carry this around with me everywhere. Plus with all you can eat data on my iPhone, I can setup a hotspot wherever and have fast internet for my MBP.

Cheers though everyone, will rep+ if I can.

I'm glad it's accomplishing your gaming. I just got a MacBook Pro as well, and although it doesn't have a great graphics card it makes up for that with a lot of other things in my opinion. The awesome long battery life, multitouch and huge trackpad, magnetic charging clip, backlit keyboard, decent DPI on the screen, pretty good CPU (the i5 in mine appears to be hyper-threaded woohoo), plus it looks damn attractive and although this means absolutely nothing, it does look better then the cheap pieces of plastic garbage that a lot of companies sell off as laptops.

[@]@Chippiewill[/@] Just gonna' tell you there's more to a machine than a graphics card ;)

My Dell XPS 15 does all that (in bold) and has a decent gfx card for £629.

That's not cheaper than how much I paid for my Macbook.

Edit: to add, I am interested in the total specs of your Dell though because I was looking at Dell laptops before, if you're willing to share or have a link.

Dell XPS L501X
Intel Core i5 M480 2.67GHz (2.9GHZ Turbo)
8GB DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT420M & Intel HD Graphics (auto swaps)
250GB Hard drive.

Unfortunatelythey don't sell this exact one any more since they refreshed it a few months after I got this so all the new ones have Sandybridge CPU's and 500 series nvidia GPU's.

Decent specs for a recent laptop, my MacBook's is:

Intel Core Processor i5 2435M (3ghz turbo)
4GB DDR3
Intel 3000 gfx
750GB HHD

Do you really get 7ish hours on battery? That was the big selling point for me, although I have to say I've fallen for the backlit keyboard, awesome trackpad and even the magnetic power adapter now that I've used them.

You can't buy a brand new MacBook in the UK for less than £849, so he has a point.

I get around 4 hours out of my battery and then I can also turn on the Dell power save features which will drastically increase the battery life.

Ah, well. 4 hours is decent I suppose.

They're not that expensive over here so the point doesn't extend to the land of the moose, my friend :P
