So like an idiot I hadn't bought a case for my samsung galaxy nexus yet and ended up dropping it mid-drunken celebrating of 2012 last night and the screen cracked in about 4 places and only the top, what, inch? of the screen is showing any colour.

I have no insurance cause I only got it about 3 weeks ago and I'm looking for a cheaper insurance thing. but anyway:

Is it possible to buy insurance now, then like...pretend I dropped it today? :L
Or is it worth going to an orange store/carphone warehouse and telling them I dropped it?

Also apparently through carphone warehouse there is a warranty, it says for samsung handsets its 24 months...so could I get it repaired through that? O.o

I think you need to wait a few months after you get insurance before you can make a claim on it, even then it won't be free, you'l have to pay £50 towards it or something.

i don't think those kind of warranty's cover accidental damage, i think it's only phone faults.

think it might be better to be honest about it and see if they can send it away. there's no doubt yr gonna have to pay for it really.

surely not as you'd be paying for insurance that you aren't recieving? :L

If you bought the phone on a credit card you might be able to claim for accidental damage, but IMO you'll be paying for the screen replacement. When I dropped my old G1 T-Mo wanted £120 or so to fix it, in the end I bought a £30 screen off eBay and did it myself.

The Samsung warranty covers manufacturer defects, not accidental damage.

i have an iPhone 4 and i dropped mine and cracked the screen and i called apple, and they just told me to go in, pay 89.95CAD and they just replaced my entire phone. lol, one reason i love apple and decided to go with their products. As for your case, your best bet is to just look on eBay for the replacement parts..

My mum has my phone on our home insurance and if anything happens to it we just have to pay £25 towards it. I don't think warranty covers things that were your fault though. If you feel confident enough you could do it yourself. Theres sometimes those little stalls in shopping centres and I think they do screen replacements

Took it to Carphone Warehouse yesterday, decided to be honest about it - the guy at the desk was like laughing at me about it saying "you shoulda got insurance hahahaa your gonna have to pay over £180 as thats what it is for the iPhone"

Eventually he found out its only £79.99 to replace the screen on a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, as long as its only the screen that's ******.

Considered doing it myself or finding a cheap place to get it done (like one of them stall people), but decided £80 is okay really as its the actual company doing it and if I ****** it up then I'd be screweeedddd.
