Ok, I have a ingrowing toenail and have had it for the past 3 months. I have had them before, but this is the worst that I have ever had. I visited the doctor and am in the process of waiting for a appointment to see a foot specialist. My toe is gradually getting worse and worse, and i'm not sure what (if anything) I can do about it. I have read about putting a cut straw/cotton wool between your nail and skin, but I physically cannot pull the skin to the side enough to do this.

(if you don't know what a ingrowing toenail is, please click here (http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/ingrown-toenail/Pages/Introduction.aspx)for the NHS's explanation)

Does anyone know any ways of dealing with it until my appointment? I will +rep any ideas that I find useful

Thanks for your time

i would suggest soaking in warm water for a good while and washing thoroughly to prevent further infection.

I did that until I noticed that when I soaked it for a while, the skin softened and this allowed the nail to dig in further.

Thank You for the advice anyway. +rep will be given out later.

Thank You Again,
