It's fine. MC is pretty intensive (read, inefficiently coded) and will make any computer run hot.
Computers running hot is kinda what they do when they're being used, just so long as the fan isn't blocked up by carpet, or your knee... or bed, it's fine :P

using more power, more power = more heat.

Yeah, any surface is fine, just so long as the fan can do it's job.

Ok, thanks for your help :) I might buy a laptop cooling pad and some compressed air to keep it clean from dust :) Thanks for your help :D

Seconded the compressed air idea. I fix PCs so I go through gallons of the stuff. My laptop got ever so slow and hot it was unusable because it was throttling the CPU to keep cool. 5 minutes work later with a can of compressed air (didnt even strip it down, only took the RAM and HDD covers off to get slightly better access), and it's like having reinstalled Windows quite frankly. It's adistinctlynoticeable difference.

Yeah? I probably wont get the air just yet as I only got the laptop on Saturday :P
If you go through that much compressed air then get an air compressor, tis much cheaper.
