is SpeedFan?
Just built my system and after a quick game on Battlefield 3 it's saying my CPU is at around 71C!?!

Surely it can't be that hot... I'm not overclocking. I do have the stock CPU cooler on, but have applied thermal paste to the top of the CPU.

71c is pretty standard for the stock cooler at full load. It's perfectly safe, you need to start worrying when it hits 80c+.

It's safe, but a 2500k should be lower than that on the stock cooler methinks.

Check coretemp too. Speedfan should be pretty accurate though and it does sound slightly high.

RealTemp is another good one.

RealTemp is giving me readings of around 40-50 whilst SpeedFan is jumping from 70-80...

EDIT: Just had a look with Core Temp also... which says the CPU is about 40C, I'm guessing that SpeedFan could be wrong here?

Try CPUID HWMonitor usually always exact temps for me.
