View Full Version : Free Diamond Jubilee Medal

In 1977, when Britain and the Commonwealth celebrated the Queen's Silver Jubilee, 37 million commemorative coins were produced, many of which were distributed to children for free.

There is no such mass coin distribution planned to celebrate the Queen's 60th year on the throne in 2012. However, to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, The Westminster Collection is co-ordinating a commemorative medal distribution, giving every household in the UK their opportunity to receive a Diamond Jubilee Medal absolutely FREE.

Selfish.

Be careful with this guys and read the small print. It seems they will send you medals in future for viewing and then if you don't send them back they will automatically charge you £40 and up for them. They'll be relying on people not reading small print in order to pull a profit from this in the long run.

Although, I've read up on the laws surrounding this. If they send you anything and then ask you to pay for it after they send it then you don't have to. If it was sent accidentally then you have to hold it for 30 days for them to COLLECT from you (not post yourself). So if they do send anything for your viewing which you didn't order (and therefore have entered into no consumer contract) then you can just keep it, the law is on your side.

It says they've reserved one, not that they're gonna send you one. It says you have to contact them to actually get it sent to you

Not really that bothered, I think my dad is getting some sort of medal for serving his full police service (at least 30 years) during the reign of Elizabeth II.
