Turned out to be a Social experiment all along, pretty eye opening. It was all over the news and like being tweeted by big celebrities and such. The fact it's not an verified account adds to how awesome this is, pretty much everyone believed it.

[@]@OfficialGlitter[/@] is the account btw.

What I noticed was in this:

http://www.nme.com/news/gary-glitter/61560

"NME also made inquiries to the Home Office press office earlier today about the online restrictions which are can be placed upon registered sex offenders and was told that the police cannot ban anyone from using the internet as it would "violate their human rights" and any online monitoring of registered sex offenders by police was carried out on a "case by case basis"."

Now read this article: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/01/05/vint_cerf_internet_not_right/

"“Technology is an enabler of rights, not a right itself,” he writes. “There is a high bar for something to be considered a human right. Loosely put, it must be among the things we as humans need in order to lead healthy, meaningful lives, like freedom from torture or freedom of conscience. It is a mistake to place any particular technology in this exalted category, since over time we will end up valuing the wrong things.”"

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.

To be fair, Gary should be put in a room with no windows. The room locked let him suffer, painfully

That is brilliant, what an interesting experiment and it will probably make the headlines on Monday. I wonder what [@]@-:Undertaker:-[/@] will have to say about the human rights issue.. :O!

This is news to me :P Have people not learnt to take Twitter accounts with a pinch of salt? All throughout 2010 and 2011 there was news that Ian Hislop had a fake Twitter account, and Frankie Boyle (until he made one himself), to name a few. Why did people believe this account to actually be Gary Glitter? What evidence was there and why are people so interested in an ex-convicted paedophile?

The blog post has been deleted and the Twitter account has been deleted and then created again about an hour ago;https://twitter.com/#!/officialglitter

Looks like they're trying to get the hoax going again, very strange. None of what's going on is making sense.

Nothing, other than you lot all vote for it [human rights, soft crime] and will continue to vote for it until one day you yourselves are the victims of these types of people and soft justice.

It's just a shame the rest of us will also have to suffer in the meantime because the majority allow this to happen by not using their heads when it comes to polling day.

Is anybody going to listen for once at whats actually going on? I guess not, but just wait until its you.

I believed it haha but didn't tweet him. Just shows that you can't believe what you see on the internet.

The fact that so many people believed it and even news sites reported it is astounding. I think it's quite funny tbh
