MATT SMITH ANNOUNCES HIS FINAL YEAR OF DOCTOR WHO AS HE IS HEADING TO HOLLYWOOD. SERIES 7 AND 8 TO BE FILMED BACK TO BACK. 2013 NEW DOCTOR? LOOKS LIKELY YES.

sauce?
Edit: BBC Twatter:
"Matt Smith says backstage that he has "no plans to leave" Doctor Who and he has no idea who his next companion will be #NTAs"
Seems only radio times reporting this.

I think it's just the rumor mill, I think he wants a hollywood job long term but has no idea when he'll get one.
I suppose he'll want to leave before he's just Doctor Who and not Matt Smith otherwise he won't be able to get a good role in a movie because it's difficult to get someone who is known by their character not their name/image to appear as a different character in an immersive way.
I believe David Tennant has been struggling in that respect although he's done a lot of voice overs (Laying on the heavy scottish accent, beautiful though, to get over the distraction).

If legit, hopefully a replacement for Moffat too.

I do think though even if the rumours false, Around 2013 seems a right time to leave with the 50th that year sounds a perfect time for Matt to leave.
think if it is his last season they should have a break because they are running themselves into the ground.

I doubt highly they'l have a 'break' especially with the 50thanniversary.

I want Matt to be in for the 50th anniversary - it would be a good way for him to leave really

He better not go or i'll personally kidnap him and drag him back to the UK behind a boat using a hook up his nose.Hope this is a good incentive!

He said at the NTAs he had no plans to leave any time soon. I imagine he'll attempt to crack Hollywood eventually though, good luck to him. :D

I remember when everyone was so "iffy" about a new doctor after david tenant - But I actually really love Matt Smith, i think his mannerisms, and cheeky attitude and the amount his hair bounces is fantastic.
I hope he doesn't leave as soon, however everyone needs to move on in the acting world SOMETIME.
And if he does decide that the time is right... I salut him for being a great Doctor, and wish him good luck.
