At the top right of my page, mentions consistently stay there - I go to the page to try and disable them by clicking "Disable Notifications" and they do stop showing mentions in the top-right, drop-down box until I log out then back in again. Then, they just start showing again :S
I'm not trying to get rid of receiving a PM when I'm quoted, I just want the 'Mentions' to shop showing up every time I log on. They even show up after I've actually read the 'mention' ._.

Happens with me to :'(
Try clicking "go to post" for all the mentions and then click disable mentions. You may need to do that every time you log on.

As Shar said above. It seems when you click the post next to (New) it takes that notification as read. Perhaps the system could be tweaked, so there's a button or something that says "Select all > Mark as read"?

There is a way, but David in his infinite wisdom decided that a cookie is a sensible way of storing states and instead of putting it under General Settings made it a simple click-link cookie set type-deal.
User-CP => "Disable Notifications"
Edit:
SERIOUSLY?!?!

David JUST LEARN HOW TO DEVELOP FOR VB PROPERLY. You're just sapping my bandwidth with pointless cookies. You could at least use sessions.
Also in future set the charity minimise thing to expire at a reasonable point - NOT 4749.
yea.. I disabled mine but every time I log into a new device it re-enables duels and mentions

[@]@Chippiewill[/@] I will ignore yoursnarkiness and point out that I wanted the setting to be per device because some folks might want mentions to display on their desktop but not phone, it's perfectly valid to store whether or not they're enabled or not in a cookie. In regards to your edit six cookies isn't going to consume a tremendous amount of bandwidth. Infact, I would imagine downloading a 1x1 pixel image would consume more transfer than those cookies are.
