There are 4 main steps for setting up sam2:

Step 1: Acquiring the SAM2 Broadcaster Software and MySQL.

Step 2: Installing the software.

Step 3: Running and Configuring the Software.

Step 4: Connecting and Streaming Sound.

Step 1: Acquiring the SAM2 Broadcaster Software and MySQL

The first thing you will need to do is acquire the SAM2 Program and MySQL.

IMPORTANT!!

MySQL NEEDS to be installed BEFORE SAM2!!

To download MySQL, click the following link:

ONLY after MySQL is installed, may you start downloaded SAM2!

To Download SAM2, Click the link below.

You’ll get a Conformation box .

Click “Run” and wait for the download to complete. This can range from anywhere between 2 minutes, to 30 minutes, Depending on your Internet Connection.

Once the download has completed, Hit the run button!

Step 2: Installing the Software

Next you will want to run the installation program that will install SAM2. After clicking run in the box described above. You’ll get a box!

Hit Yes!

You may wish to read the License agreement if you wish,

Click Accept to continue.

Then Press Next… Again

On this page, be sure to check every box available.

Click Next When you are ready.

The next screen will vary depending on the options you selected. But clicking next / accept / ok will move you forward in the installation wizard.

SAM2 Will now begin to install :

Once complete, the wizard will display a confirmation page, asking you if you would like to Run SAM2 and view the read-me, Click next.

Hit Finish!

Step 3: Running and Configuring the Software:

After hitting finish, SAM2 will load, please be patient, this may take some time. If SAM2 doesn’t appear to be loading. You may launch it from the Desktop by double-clicking the SAM2 Icon:

Once SAM2 has loaded, you will be faced with the main SAM2 Window:

http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/1876/untitled48qt.th.jpg (http://img355.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitled48qt.jpg)

This may look rather daunting at first, but I assure you, you’ll be whizzing around it like a pro in no time at all!

Right, First thing you’ll wana do, is add your music to SAM2’s database so you can play it on your show.

To Add Music :

Assure you have selected the “Tracks” Folder in the “Playlist” window.

In the “Tracks in selected category” Box, click the green + Arrow.

You’ll get a browse box .

Browse to where your music is stored, then select a song you want to add.
If you want to add more than one song at once, hold the CTRL key down as you click each one. Or to add the ENTIRE FOLDER, hold down the SHIFT key and press A, that will highlight every file in the folder, then simple hit open!

Your Tracks will then be added to the “Tracks in selected category” Window.

Once you are happy with the tracks you have added. You can start adding them to the “Queue” to be played!

You can add tunes to the Queue window, by dragging and dropping the tracks FROM the “tracks in selected category” window TO the Queue window.
Once you have the tracks you want in the “Queue” window. (A few will do to start off with! As you can always add more as your show goes on.) You can begin to play your music!

To do this:

Make Sure “Auto Dj” is shown in the box along the top of SAM2 :

Then simple hit the Play Button!!

“Deck A” will begin to play the TOP song in your Queue. Always remember, SAM2 will work DOWN your Queue!!

Once “Deck A” has finished playing, “Deck B” will AUTOMATICALLY Play the Next song in the Queue.

So now you have learned the basics of playing songs. If you would prefer to start each song by your self, you can select “Manual DJ” by clicking on the “Auto DJ” button described above.

Step 4: Configuring and Streaming Sound

Once you are ready to begin “DJing” you are ready to connect to the streaming Server, to begin broadcasting your show.

You connect to a server using Encoders. These encoders “encode” the sound from your computer, transmit it over the Internet, to our server, which then “de-codes” it and transmits it across the Internet for the listeners to be able to “tune in”

Encoder configuration is held in “Desktop B”

Notice along the top of the SAM2 window, there is a panel.

Desktop A is the one you’d mainly use, to play tunes etc. Desktop B is Configuration, and Desktop C is an alternative layout to Desktop A.

Click Desktop B.

The view will change:

Notice the “Encoders” Panel?

Yours will be blank!!

Now, to add an encoder we would use the + Icon, notice it along the top of the panel?

Click it! And a window will popup.

First things first, We need to set-up a “WMA” or “Windows Media” encoder.

Select “WMA” then click ok.

You’ll see a box .

ALL you need to do, is select “32 kbps” then click ok, don’t worry about changing ANYTHING else.

You’ll be returned to the main Desktop B view, and you should now notice the WMA encoder in the Encoders Panel. Your WMA might have a number after it, that’s normal so don’t worry if it has or hasn’t.

Ok, next we need to add another encoder. Click the + sign again in the Encoders panel.

You’ll get the popup again:

This time, select “MP3 and mp3PRO”

And Click OK.

You’ll get a popup Box.

Set the quality to “High Quality.

See the box that says “Format” ? Click the down arrow and select 32 kb/s, 24.0 kHz Mono.

Next, hit the “Server Details” tab.

(Enter your DJ Name where it says DJ Name). The $combine$ should already be in the box.
Make sure the Server Type is “ShoutCast”!!

Leave the Password section Blank, as you will be given this later.

After everything has been entered, hit OK!

You’ll be returned to the main Desktop B window again. Notice this time, another Encoder has been added to the Encoder Panel. It will however have “Encoder not started” next to it, don’t worry about that for now.

Right, you are setup to begin broadcasting! All you need now is the password to connect to the radio!

Once you have been given it, follow the steps below.

Entering the password for the encoder

In the encoders panel, on desktop B, right-click on the MP3 encoder, and choose “config”

You’ll get a popup.

Next, choose the Server Details tab.

You’ll see where to enter the password. As you enter it, it will appear as ******

You will also need to enter The ip or the radio ( You will be given this ) and the port!

Once that has been completed, hit ok!

Begin your Broadcast!!

Once you are ready to begin your show, you must start the MP3 encoder.

To do this, right-click it in the Encoder Panel on Desktop B, and choose “Start”

It will say “Encoding” if successful! Once it says encoding, you are LIVE!!! Switch over to Desktop A by clicking its button along the top of SAM2, and play some music! (Refer to earlier for help)

Ending your show!!

To End your show, you MUST STOP the encoder, to do this, flip over to desktop B, in the encoders panel, right-click on the MP3 encoder, and choose “Stop”

It will say “Encoder not started” if successful!

Congratulations on setting up SAM2!!

You are now ready to begin broadcasting on The Radio!
