Hi, I'm looking to create a site on behalf of my father who owns a little company.

A little background, we're called House of Furniture and are a little company with three stores all locally within our area (Liverpool/Wirral). Now, after doing some searching I came across "VirtueMart" templates, not too sure what that is but I basically need a template for a website and recommendations on what I should do.

Firstly for the domain it is going to be a .com and I think I might get that from godaddy. For hosting, I'm not sure what type or where I should go for hosting, it'll be a small website with not much traffic. The website will need to showcase furniture that we offer, don't want any complicated stuff like card payments just pictures of products, contact details and that's basically it!

Looking at VirtueMart, the templates were far too expensive, to be honest I wasn't really planning on spending more than £10 as it's not needed that much, our temporary ebay account however boosted sales loads! The website also needs a login bit or some sort of access for my father to edit the website without staring blankly at code.

Cheers,
Deeb.

In my eyes the best for hosting and domain are
Domain - Namecheap
Hosting - Hostgator
May cost a bit more but its always worth it

Thanks for the information I'll check them out.

Anybody have any info on templates/systems I could use to manage the site.

Can anybody help create a layout/CMS system?

Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, SilverStripe, Cushy CMS... to name a few, these are all CMS systems so that your father can just login and edit the site with ease, most of these come with templates too and you could change it around abit to make it your own (or purchase a template for around £10/your budget) - for hosting/domain I would use zfast.co.uk as I have been with these for about 2/3 years, never been down and very good customer support, I could host you for free if you wish as I host a few websites such as charity websites/my portfolio on my zfast reseller - 100% uptime... any more info needed then just pm :)

I have always registered through GoDaddy and have never had any problems! They even telephone you to confirm everything.
