I have seen the Gorillaz in r/l not as pixelated people.
They were at an MTV event.

At a concert I went to they played behind giant screens so you could only see their shadows.

The Blur singer that was mentioned would bes Damon Albreight (name more than likely spelled wrong). And yah, he was ONE of the creators of the group. The other mastermind would be the animator. The band members themself are real.
