Putting a written off vehicle back on the road

Hi,

Im wanting to put one of my old cars back on the road, its a cat D write off, really minor damage. the 2 front tyres are bold and the MOT and Tax ran out last week, Was planning to sell it but rather keep it. Im just wondering how would i get it back onto the road?

Yes, and taxed, obviously. But you don't need a VIC check for a cat D.

Salvage cars are great, sometimes they're written off for such minor reasons you'd be crazy not to buy it cheap and have it fixed. My mom had a 03 S500, drove it for like 3 years, put over 300k on it and the only reason it was salvaged was because it was stolen and not found for more than 30 days, so the insurance company paid off the owner and when it was found they auctioned it off as theft - only thing it needed was a centre console with the navigation screen and both headlights and tail lights.

When my car was damaged I was scared the insurance company was going to write it off, but they didn't. If they did I would have bought the car back from them and had it fixed myself. I know everything about that car, I have all the service records for it since it was new (even before I bought it) AND I had just put a bunch of work into it before it burned. I would rather have a car I know then buy a similar car off somebody else and have it possibly have had more damage to it.
